1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: Washer bottle

The holes in the sidewall should be a giveaway to what washer bag or bottle you should have.
The bracket for a bag was welded to the sidewall, i.e. holes if drilled out should be quite close.
Bottle had no bracket and holes for screws longer apart.

I found the for-sale ad of #1205 in The Shelby American #58 Asking price was $62500 and I scanned the picture but for some strange reasons I can't post it here. The picture is in black and white, but the stripes look to be white but as Bob said a lot of things may have happened between 1969 and 1980's regarding this car as well.

Talked to Roland a few minutes ago and he reminded me the car was red with gold stripes when he bought it in 1981.
Originally, it was owned by a Swedish Rock Singer of Turkish descent who painted it red with painted gold stripes.
Probably the stripe kits weren't available in Sweden
When Roland restored the car, he hand scraped off all the old paint and he is 100% sure the stripes on the
Gulfstream Aqua layer was white. He said he checked and double checked it.

This car is one car away from Roland's Gulfstream Aqua GT350 Convertible in Sweden (1204).
His car has white side stripes as does this car.
1205 was for sale in the Marque/Shelby American about 40 years ago. Good memory for an old geezer
like me.

Thanks Jeff,
All the pictures of the 65 port hole hoods are from very early cars without the prop rod.
Do you happen to have a factory picture from a car with prop rod and the underside color clearly visible. Say cars from, 5S114 to 5S300.
Thanks again for your help.

1965 GT350/R-Model / 65-66 Under Hood Color

In the Shelby American number 52 you answered (clarified) a question from Tom Georgalos in number 51
about 65-66 Shelby Under Hood Color.
You stated that 65 fiber glass plenum (porthole) hoods were all painted white and
65-66 fiber glass hoods with metal frames were all painted black and 66 all metal hoods
were all painted body color.
Do all experts still agree on this? The reason I ask is that many restored 65 Shelbys with porthole
hoods are painted black.
Finally, were there two types of all fiber glass hoods with port holes, one without and one with
an extra webbing in the middle towards front to increase strength?

1965 GT350/R-Model / Re: Air cleaner base gold
July 30, 2025, 09:37:59 PM
Trent,
About 45 years ago, in Sweden, I found an original 65 HiPo air cleaner (without PCV) with the gold painted base dated 5A. After moving to the US in 1987 and the purchase of my 65 I had a paint shop use the base from Sweden and
paint the one I have on my car. Still have the base from Sweden but I had that one painted as well.
I will look for the paint formula but the chance of finding it is very slim. Pictures show the base before painting.

Good luck Brant, in your retirement. Now you can enjoy your beautiful cars full time.
However, I will miss your special parts that you made over the years for the 65's.
You are an honest and good man.

Sad news. RIP Jeff,
45 years ago, Jeff taught me the difference between Standard and HiPo 289 engines.
He posted my questions and his answers with excellent illustrations in The Marque/Shelby American.
I lived in Sweden then.

The tach in my 67 in Sweden stopped working but the car still worked fine.
Somebody has told me many years ago that the tach had an override connection
not to affect the car running if tach gave up.
I found me another 67 tach. Used electronic ignition without any issues.
While you have your tach repaired just connect the two wires together and you can use
the car without the tack.

To me it sounds like a vacuum problem in conjunction with the power brakes.
