Up For Auction / Re: Craigslist 68 Shelby

I like calling them also and disguising my voice!  Yesterday it was a springtime yellow 68 Fastback they stole the pics again from BaT.  They asked if the car was black and they were not aware of a yellow one!!  Idiots!  I told them it was a light yellow....not a bright yellow....and not bright like them!  There was a long pause and I said I'm pretty sure they are a scammer and they stole the pics from BaT....to which they said I didn't know what I was talking about and hung up!

They wouldn't be doing it if the scam didn't work. Keep in mind that many scammers are just looking for a "deposit" from as many people as they can. A $10k deposit from ten people equals a $100k payday for just quickly replying to some messages/emails before the scammer moves on to the next collector vehicle for sale ad scam.

Yes, I'm aware.

One scammer keeps using the red 68 GT500 that Collins or BarnFindHunter found and put the video on Youtube!

DC is probably bidding on it so he can run it on BaT like his last one

I'd think DC is not really following the auction much or comments.  He probably has one of his associates handles it all.

In regards to BaT and their reserves.  I've sold a few vehicles on there.  I tried to run 2 others thru them and they were firm that they know the market and based on "research" they felt their reserve was very fair.  Both vehicles sold for much more than the reserve BaT wanted through other avenues.  One actually showed up on BaT a few years later through a "partner" with a reserve much higher than the one I wanted.

It was much better before they were bought out by Hearst Auto. For the low volume sellers, if you want a reserve and you don't like their number there is little to no wiggle room to support your number even with supporting facts.  If you are  high volume or a "partner" of theirs, they are much more forgiving of the reserve.

Quote from: Coralsnake on January 27, 2026, 11:55:43 AMCertainly, there are many reputable and knowledge appraisal services. However, it is very hard to be knowledgable on all cars. Will someone who appraises Rolls Royce automobiles, know if a starter delay is missing from a GT500KR? The unfortunate part of an appraisal is, that if you know the right people, you can get one for just about any value. Do not take an appraisal at face value. You have the responsibilty to be the knowledgable person. Just because a car has a high appraisal value, doesn't mean someone will pay that much.

This is so true! Years ago I was selling a 69 Mach 1 and a long distance buyer hired a local appraiser to come look at it (who had actually come and looked at another Mustang previously possible to buy for himself!).  The appraisal seemed to go ok till the buyer bailed and shared the appraisal with me.  There was so much incorrect info in it!  I called the appraiser and had to school him on classic Mustangs and his reply was "you should have shared this with me when I was at your house!"  Oh boy!

Was fun watching them go across the block and good to be able to "rewind" the live feed if missed in real time.
I thoughts the 67s did exceptionally well.

Thanks for putting the list together.  Takes a lot of effort/dedication.

He's a broker and a long time classic Mustang guy.
He just helped moved a super nice 67 Fastback for me cross country, enclosed.

The 67 had some nice company in the hauler, a new Ford GT and a mint Fox body GT Vert.

Thanks for the replies.
It was confusing for me to decide. Like you said the gaps around the inlay made me think repro but then I read most of the repros had the screw on the backside. Maybe the screw info is incorrect?

I gather a repro is worth a few hundred? If so I'll let next owner decide if they want to keep it on or not.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend so far.
Helping a buddy sell his 67 Fastback and the car has this Shelby shifter handle on it. From what I've researched since the securing screw is in the front it is original. Is that correct?
The car should have the 67 deluxe handle so this wood one obviously isn't correct for the car.
If this is original what is it worth?
Trying to decide if should remove it to sell separately?

Thanks!

Misc. For Sale / Re: Craigslist scam

It's really hard to catch these scammers unless you can get some true details about them...name, bank account name and account details. Many just want to get deposits through electronic means which makes it harder to trace.  Most authorities won't spend time unless it is a significant amount of money or they can gather evidence of many scammed by the same person and group it together into one case.

I've been flagging their ad for weeks now.  They keep reposting.
I guess people are falling for it sadly!
