I'd think DC is not really following the auction much or comments.  He probably has one of his associates handles it all.

In regards to BaT and their reserves.  I've sold a few vehicles on there.  I tried to run 2 others thru them and they were firm that they know the market and based on "research" they felt their reserve was very fair.  Both vehicles sold for much more than the reserve BaT wanted through other avenues.  One actually showed up on BaT a few years later through a "partner" with a reserve much higher than the one I wanted.

It was much better before they were bought out by Hearst Auto. For the low volume sellers, if you want a reserve and you don't like their number there is little to no wiggle room to support your number even with supporting facts.  If you are  high volume or a "partner" of theirs, they are much more forgiving of the reserve.

Quote from: Coralsnake on January 27, 2026, 11:55:43 AMCertainly, there are many reputable and knowledge appraisal services. However, it is very hard to be knowledgable on all cars. Will someone who appraises Rolls Royce automobiles, know if a starter delay is missing from a GT500KR? The unfortunate part of an appraisal is, that if you know the right people, you can get one for just about any value. Do not take an appraisal at face value. You have the responsibilty to be the knowledgable person. Just because a car has a high appraisal value, doesn't mean someone will pay that much.

This is so true! Years ago I was selling a 69 Mach 1 and a long distance buyer hired a local appraiser to come look at it (who had actually come and looked at another Mustang previously possible to buy for himself!).  The appraisal seemed to go ok till the buyer bailed and shared the appraisal with me.  There was so much incorrect info in it!  I called the appraiser and had to school him on classic Mustangs and his reply was "you should have shared this with me when I was at your house!"  Oh boy!

Was fun watching them go across the block and good to be able to "rewind" the live feed if missed in real time.
I thoughts the 67s did exceptionally well.

Thanks for putting the list together.  Takes a lot of effort/dedication.

Contact Chris at autotransportinfo@yahoo.com
He owners www.http://discountautotransport.com/

He's a broker and a long time classic Mustang guy.
He just helped moved a super nice 67 Fastback for me cross country, enclosed.
Pickup and delivery within 6 days of him looking for a hauler.
The 67 had some nice company in the hauler, a new Ford GT and a mint Fox body GT Vert.

Thanks for the replies.
It was confusing for me to decide. Like you said the gaps around the inlay made me think repro but then I read most of the repros had the screw on the backside. Maybe the screw info is incorrect?

I gather a repro is worth a few hundred? If so I'll let next owner decide if they want to keep it on or not.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend so far.
Helping a buddy sell his 67 Fastback and the car has this Shelby shifter handle on it. From what I've researched since the securing screw is in the front it is original. Is that correct?
The car should have the 67 deluxe handle so this wood one obviously isn't correct for the car.
If this is original what is it worth?
Trying to decide if should remove it to sell separately?

Thanks!

Misc. For Sale / Re: Craigslist scam
September 22, 2025, 09:14:14 AM
It's really hard to catch these scammers unless you can get some true details about them...name, bank account name and account details. Many just want to get deposits through electronic means which makes it harder to trace.  Most authorities won't spend time unless it is a significant amount of money or they can gather evidence of many scammed by the same person and group it together into one case.

I've been flagging their ad for weeks now.  They keep reposting.
I guess people are falling for it sadly!

FLASHING Yellow Alert / Re: Craigslist Scam
March 18, 2025, 03:52:06 PM
I called on one a few weeks ago that were MY pics at my house of a car I sold a bunch of years ago (not the first time this happened with that car!).  When the scammer said he was a used car lot in MD I asked normal questions like "if you have the car there on your lot why are the pics in the yard of of a residential house?"
He started to get agitated and said I seemed more concerned about the ad itself and the pics and that I probably couldn't even afford the car etc. and before I could tell him they were my pics and my house he hung up!
Scammers really make me mad!

I've been active on BaT (not as active as shelbymann1970, he is like a celebrity there!  :) ) but they have turned me off a bit in the last year or 2.
I know numerous instances (myself included) where the reserve they were stuck on was not close to what they owner/seller wanted and the owner ended up going to another auction venue and blew it outta the park!  Ended up working out well for the seller but it makes BaT look bad.
I even shared some of those details with BaT and they never replied!  As Bret said earlier, they think they know more than we do!

BaT, ever since it got bought by Hearst Auto Group (2020) has changed a lot from a reserve standpoint.  Like many others have said, the reserve on this one made no sense.
Prior to the Hearst acquisition they were much more open to the sellers requested reserve or at least open to a discussion with supporting info why you felt your reserve was in line.
It's much much more about the bottom line now.  They will flat out tell you they won't list your car unless you do No Reserve OR you need to go with their reserve...which is usually much lower than what you'd like.  They want the cars to sell so they make their 5%.  I was shocked when I was RNM on this Shelby!
