You might try a right angle drill adaptor.  If I could figure out how to attach a picture, I would.

Ask a Registrar / Re: 66 original exhaust

Let me say you will not be disappointed with Scott's exhaust.  I installed his exhaust on my '66 GT-350, and it fit perfectly.  No alignment problems and quality attaching hardware.

Quote from: Royce Peterson on October 27, 2025, 10:02:40 AMMaybe the buyer could not drive a manual transmission - the price paid is more reflective on the buyer than the car I think.

I would agree.  If the car checks all of the boxes, and money is no object, someone is going to pay what it takes to buy the car.

As for the stripes, when I drive my '66, I still get asked why I do not have Le Mans stripes.  I tell them it came without stripes.  They seem surprised as they think all Shelbys came with stripes.

Quote from: mark p on September 25, 2025, 02:09:07 PMI was told that's just the way you "California folks" refer to things... highways are "THE 215", "THE 405" etc  ;D  ::) 👍

More typical of SoCal - the Other state

True we put "the" in front of the highway number.  However, Pacific Coast Highway is always just PCH.  Never The PCH.  Those not SoCal born and raised sometimes put "the" in front, but not us natives.

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Strut rod bushing washer

Does the cupped side of the washer go to the bushing?  The washers I have say this side to rubber, which is the flat side.

Glad to hear you made it home safely.

Brake lights:

I start with a jumper wire across the switch connector to isolate the brake light switch. If I get lights, it is the switch.  You may have already done this.

I believe the brake light circuit goes the turn signal switch.  If a bad turn signal switch, sometimes lightly moving the lever gets the brake lights to come on.  If so, could be the turn signal switch.

If you have done both of these, I do not know where to look next.  Best of luck!

I understand your concern.  One option would be a friend with a trailer or a tow company with a flat bed.  Peace of mind is priceless.

I would get the front end up in the air and double check the torque and bushing installation just to be safe.

If you are talking about the drop down because of headers, my drop down bracket and bolts were installed 35 years ago and are have not loosened.  And my bracket is not welded.

It was great meeting you and sharing a table at the banquet.  My wife and I enjoyed your stories about the GT-350.

Just checked out the website.  Great documentation of the cars history(and your family).  Wish you many more years of enjoyment.

Best,

I bought new bushings and attaching hardware a few years back from Performance Shock, Inc. They are located at Sonoma Raceway, 800-965-5664.  Hope this helps.

I understand where you are coming from.  I owned a '70 Boss 302 in the early 70's.  Really loved that car, from the looks, sound, and performance.  However, having owned 2 GT-350's for 30 plus years, I have to say I like the Shelbys better.  Not to say, if I sold one of the Shelbys, a '70 Boss 302 would be high on the list.
