I was a previous owner of this car. At the time, I was in the market for a 289 Cobra when Lynn Park reached out to inform me about this particular vehicle and its then-owner, Jim Farley.
During my ownership, the only modification I made was replacing the four-speed Toploader transmission—which I retained—with a five-speed gearbox, significantly improving the car's drivability and enjoyment.
The current asking price of $280,000 is astonishing. Moreover, the claim in the listing that "Reid had the engine rebuilt, installed roller rockers, and generally 'explosion-proofed' the engine with high-end components while retaining the original block and heads" is entirely inaccurate. I never performed any engine work on this vehicle.
Additionally, the detailing work described underneath the car raises concerns. When I owned the vehicle, it was in excellent condition and required no such work. This leads me to question what might have happened after it left my possession—was it involved in an accident or otherwise altered?
When I purchased the car, I carefully traced its ownership history, personally verifying details with each prior owner, and everything aligned. The vehicle also came with extensive documentation. Given these discrepancies, I would urge any potential buyer to conduct thorough due diligence before proceeding.
