I had the original faded black metallic as undercoat on the plastic interior pieces and used two light coats from spray cans and it came out great. Covered, no runs and the grain is intact.

I would just buy it direct from NPD in a spray can.

Don't think that I have ever seen a regular 1967 GT500 go for anywhere near $852k.

Welcome to the forum

A couple of years ago, I wanted to make a factory 1967 GTA coupe a little more correct than when I got it. I got under the car and used a putty knife and gasoline to scrape off the black undercoat. Probably 95% came off without taking off the factory primer or drips. I then tested about 5 makers of red oxide primers and found one to be a really good match for my San Jose car. I then rattle canned the bottom. Not really concours, but more appealing than what it was before.

I have a GT factory cut out rear valance if you are interested. I took it off my 1967 GT500 as I needed the early Shelby worker manual cut outs. I have used it for a paint test panel so it currently has several types of blue paint on the face of it. Original red primer on the back. I could send pictures if you message me.
