Oregon and Washington State will be right behind California. The 2 Governors are wimps and pushovers. There like sheep followers. I live on the east side of Oregon and will be selling everything in 7-10yrs when I retire and plan to move to northern Idaho where there is no death tax. Just went through a 3 battle on this.

Northern Idaho have normal people. South side like Boise are California transplants.

I use to live in Tahoe, Nv and worked Nevada side lived on the California side. Neither side was great.

I tried with no reply off their site. I do not speak Spanish so I did not call the number that was posted.

You could go down there on you next vacation and poke around. LOL

Hard to say how Ray was to think and do when being friends with both Carroll and Eduardo. If Carroll asked him not to sell any fastbacks until the contract between Ford-Carroll-Eduardo ended. They did find the bullet stunt car in Mexico. Also if you look at the last picture how did this Mexican official get a 67 Shelby in his collection and all his cars were seized.

I'm just saying that if someone would reach out to the Mexican Mustang registry and ask around to the clubs maybe someone might know something of Jim Morrison car and other Shelby's.

We have the Shelby # and California Plate #

It would be hard for Eduardo to drive a BB mustang or Shelby or Cobra and not want to get his hands on one. Or someone he new. Since nothing of the the car or title change has ever come up in the US. Mexico is the next best place to look.

In 71 Mexico would put a new vin tag on the cars. In 72 they stopped.

NO ONE even knows if the "hit a phone pole" story is true. If it did it was not serious enough to total the car. The car was first offered for sale with the Doors studio/office phone number. Ray would have the original title to sell the car (or paperwork from the owner that the title was lost). That title would be surrendered to DMV when the car was sold with the new owners info on the back. DMV would then issue a new title. The car would not have been parted out at that time. You would lose your shirt. This was the time of $100 4 speeds Bellhousing to U joint $50 rear ends $3-500 engines and $10-20 for body panels. Parts of the car were not used by Ray on his race car. The car also seems to have been driven about 10,000 miles between the Doors ad and the last Ray ad. That lady in AZ may have an Elvis Cadillac - where did that story originate?
Let's say starting with Ray Wolff being the last one to try and sell this car. Oct 3 1971 last posting in LA Times. Here is my best guess.
In the last part of 1971 Carroll Shelby and Eduardo Velazquez Shelby parts supplier in Mexico City, who would visit Carroll and drive the best cars when at Carroll's location. Even BB cars. Ended their contract. This would also allow Eduardo to be able to purchase used fastback Mustangs/Shelby in the last 3 months of 71 before Mexico changed the rules in 72 for higher duty fees on all imports.
My thought since Ray Wolff and Eduardo were also close friends Ray sold Morrisons car into Mexico. Since Carroll and Ford put a prototype 377 cubic inch 302 into a 69 De Mexico mustang that Eduardo ended up with. What is to say since no BB car was sold into Mexico on record. What would stop Ray from doing a private deal with Eduardo since Carroll and Ford did. It would be nice if someone would reach out to the Mexico Mustang Registry and ask the local car clubs to look around and investigate.

Here is what we want. The last 3 months of video in 1971 at the boarder going into Mexico from the boarder patrol crossings.

Well I wish. LOL ;D

Mexico changed the rules in 1972.  If Ray Wolff sold Morrisons car into Mexico he may have done it in the last 3 months of 1971. Right before Mexico did this.

Maybe hard to say. But since Carroll helped sneak a 377 protype engine from ford into a 69 De Mexico car. When Carroll and Eduardo Velazquez ended their business together in the end of 1971. What would stop Ray Wolff of selling a used Shelby into Mexico.  As we can see he did get to drive the best cars when he came to see Carroll.
List in this article. 427 Cobra for one. Why would someone from Mexico not want a BB 67 Shelby.

In my mind it was possible. But that is just me.

Has anyone reached out to the Mexican Mustang Registry and asked is there any 67 GT500 cars in their club.

Since Eduardo Velazquez was one of the top supplier of Shelby parts, Carroll and Ray Wolff were all good friends. Carroll even went down to Mexico to watch races.

Since Eduardo was the top man for Mexican Shelby one might think he or someone he knew would want a 67 Shelby GT500.

I understand that once there the Shelby tag was taken off and a Mexico tag was put on with 17 digits. Unlike the US.
Possibly the Shelby orig tag and California plates are still with the car. Or not!

I Understand Carroll nor Ray Wolff would send a new Shelby down to Mexico but what is to say in 1971 a used one was not shipped. If it was I would guess Mexico City area.

I do not speak Spanish. So this is far as I can go.

Yes but they are wrong    shelbydoug

You will never convince "them".

I don't find comfort in any of that. I think of it this way, artists of various methods have internal visions of beauty.

They attempt to share that vision with others. Others that can't see or feel it but in fact lack the capacity or the ability to feel it or understand.

When I can't make my "friend" understand the thought, the vision or the feeling, I take it personally as my failure having difficulty accepting that it is just I who have the ability to stretch abstractly the concept of beauty, fairness or even justice.

Apparently it is as possible as explaining sight to a person born blind? But I don't accept a concept that I am the only one with the ability to understand. My nature is to continue to try.

I remember a quote from Kopec. "We always knew that these cars were somehow special. We just didn't realize how much", or something to that effect. I wonder is that just an abstract ability since it applies to so much else.
[/quote]

It does apply to so much more. At 36 I turned my attention not only with mustangs I took it to the next level and built commercial buildings, Have 5 now. Rent 3 out for passive income. You make the best of time that we are given and pass it on to the next generation and grandkids. Family and friends and who you put around you makes for a good life.

60 now and not stopping. Get up each day and say what can you do to think outside the box. Move forward not backwards.

Just to say thank you all for these interesting times, fellow mustangers/Shelby helping each other and fun laughs.

Came into this world without hair and will go out without any I'm sure. LOL

This fits me dead on. After 142 mustangs I'm still playing in my shop. I finished my fathers hot rod truck 86 GMC 3/4 ton that he started before passing. I dropped in a 350 stroker new from Summit. Then said there you go dad. Sits in my shop for me to look at and use a few times a year. I understand everything that video said. Thanks for posting. My family does not understand why I do what I do. But my 4 and 6 yr old grandsons will get all my abilities as they grow. Each will get a mustang in the end. Passing it all on.
