Have you sent out any inquiries to Holman Moody and also to Alan Mann?  Both company's siblings are still around and have access to original documents.  The Henry Ford Museum has a slightly disorganized library with factory documents on file for research also in regards to Fords part in the development or mule cars also and the Arning mods.

There also seems to be a connection to the 1963.5 Rally Falcons in there for development which would also include DST (Dearborn Steel Tubing).

I don't seem to remember Chuck mentioning anything about the TDF mustang being around in early development of the GT350.  Is there an approximate period when Shelby American did have their hands on an example of a TDF Mustang?  I know that the winning TDF Mustang was sent back to the USA for a PR tour and a few magazine tests (one with the Comstock Racing Mustang) then back to Holman Moody for Nassau Bahamas 1964 and Daytona 1965 then back to Europe and eventually succumbed to a racing accident.

Makes you wonder if the Cobra had that modification done because of the driver's height or that it was necessary to be able to see over the luggage (not in photo) attached to the chrome luggage rack?

These two are twin sisters Susan and Nancy Robbins working for American Airlines as hostesses and both will be co-queens for the May 1-2, 1965 Riverside International Raceway USRRC sports car races.

The venue is most likely Road Atlanta for the November 1970 SCCA ARRC Championship.  This is the only event that I have for both of the cars in attendance.

The Cobra is csx2009.  What tracks did 5r538 visit in 1970?  Didn't one of the prior owners of 5r538 have their own website awhile back covering most of Kemp's history with the car?

Sundude is correct on the venue (Stockton) and the month (June 1965)....Don Wester recovered from an early spin in the Porsche 904 and slowly clawed his way back to win the race overall by a minute.  Kesling in the Cobra and Adams in the Tiger stayed together for the whole race with Adams in the Tiger taking second with a last second inside pass on the last turn to the final straight with fading brakes (seemed to be an issue with most of the cars this weekend).  Merle Brennan in the Jaguar also had issues with fading brakes and ended up fourth overall and 2nd in Bp. Jerry Titus in the GT350 had throttle issues throughout the race and had to run down the escape road when it stuck wide open....with the problem fixed, Titus continued on in the race but finishing well on down the leader board at the end.

Roll bar yes as an option from the SA accessories list early on (the front extensions that hug the front windshield don't look like they are there in the October 1965 grainy photo)....roll cage no in 1965....cages didn't start to be the norm until 1967 and on at least in SCCA.

The Gimble car was a Lotus 19B also known as the Pacesetter Special.

Bill...you should mention exactly where the pad is located.  From your photo and the original poster's photo, the pad looks to be located directly under the passenger's side front part of the head, at the top right corner of the cylinder block next where the timing chain cover is...ie where the red arrow in the original poster's photo is pointing to.

It doesn't look like there are any AC Ace's in the provided photo...looks like a couple of roadsters and coupes...looks the earliest release of the Yates book is around January 1954?
