I have been fortunate to know Jeff and be able to call him a friend. We would talk at every Shelby show or event. Jeff's sense of humor and candor was priceless. He was always ready to help; lend a hand .... offer an opinion. Jeff was tenacious in learning, documenting.

Many years ago I read or was told that the need for the second printing (and then the black and white service printing) was related to the Hertz cars (GT350H).

No one at Shelby American expected the order to be "1,000" GT350H.

Many of the Hertz did not have an owners manual supplement when they came up for resale.

They are 10 spokes.

At some point, someone put them on a mill or lathe and removed the raised portions (ribbing) of the spokes.

Leaving a flat spoke. If someone wanted to make a fourth, it could be done.

I should have said, the only picture I know of ....

The only photograph of one of the 4 original 1966 GT350 Convertibles at Shelby appeared in Autoweek December 9th, 1967.

One of the convertibles is in the background photograph of the "Mid Engine Cobra" .... aka Lone Star prototype.

Autoweek was a newspaper format in 1967.

What color? Black or Saddle.

This knob appears to be from a steering wheel spinner. It would be mounted to a threaded rod that is in a bearing / bushing that allows 360 degree rotation then on clamp to the steering wheel rim. These were very common in vehicles in period without power steering.

A low mileage 1976 Cobra II is coming up for auction at Mecum. (Not mine.)

Advertised as low, low miles. Looks very good in the photographs. Shelby "white, blue striping". Requisite V8. Manual transmission.

Might be worth checking out.

Consider contacting the research librarian at the Lake Geneva, Wisconsin public library.

1. Ask him / her to look through all of the local news papers in the month of the event; parade. Request copies of any articles or photographs found.

2. Ask him / her if they have a high school yearbook archive. If so, request any copies of the high school "Photography Club" in the year of the parade. Then cold call the members of the old "Photograph Club" for any old pictures of the parade. You might have to go to the High School library for this request.

Research librarians offer their time at little or no cost. It is a great way to get period advertisements of the Ford dealership that sold your Shelby when new.

The schematic (drawing / blueprint) I posted appears to be the same as that sold at Mecum Indy 2020 (part of the John Atzbach collection). I believe it to be a period drawing.

The one I have is old. The paper is original blueprinting paper (type exposed to high intensity light to copy and then blued using ammonia). It has degraded somewhat. It was pinned up (tack rust stained) and exposed to light - sunlight for some time.

Respect to the one from the book, I believe it was recompiled from a better copy than the one I have.
