Quote from: Johnkn on July 08, 2025, 04:55:39 PMFor Sale,   what I believe is the original driveshaft from 6S383 from my ownership dating back ~25 years.    When I purchased the car through my sale it had a T5Z conversion.   The original transmission, crossmember etc. were shipped with the car when I sold it a few years ago.   2 weeks ago when in my garage attic I discovered the driveshaft.    I believe it is original to this late '65 built car. At some point it was painted black.    Included is the yoke and U-joints. I'm in Laplata, MD 20646 and am close to Northern Virginia, etc..   I'll also be headed north to Erie, PA in 2 weeks if that helps.   Due to the size/weight I doubt this is worth shipping..   How about $200 and I can meet a reasonable distance..      I'll try to get some pics up here or ping me:  jknott@erols.com    thanks

Measuring the the driveshaft from middle of Ujoint yoke to other end middle of drive shaft yoke will determine if it is from a hipo or not. With that said the the internal clip front and rear yoke (65/66 Mustang)are hard to find in usable condition .67-73 are external clip.

Hi, yes,  while its hard to determine centers with the U-joints installed, measuring inside to outside, or outside to inside of the holes looks to be the correct ~49 23/32" / 49 3/4" length.   The diameter (through the buildup and paint) is right at 2.754" in my 93 degree garage...

I hadn't thought about the retaining "C" (??) clips but just now looking at them, they are on the inside -vs- what I remember of my GT500/BOSS/CJ cars with the clips being more accessible on the outside of the U-joint cups.

I'll try to get better pics up here but hard to hold and look at both ends of the tape measure at the same time by myself.. LOL

thanks!....

thanks

Greetings,

I've got what I suspect is the original driveshaft from 6S383 (I sold the car a few years ago).  Does it have any value (here or to the K-code guys) or does it get cut up and recycled?  The car was converted to a T5Z prior to my ownership.

Thanks....

As stated multiple times above, Bruce likely has the most experience, can provide anything from a complete kit to include the new T5Z, to any single part.  Yes the driveshaft will need to be shortened, but you would be better served retaining your original, and buying a new aluminum shaft.  That mod is the best mod you can do to these cars.  The stock T5Z comes with a 2.95 first gear and will be really short with a stock 3.89 rear.  You can get the T5Z with a taller first gear, or drop to a 3.50-3.70 rear.

Up For Auction / Re: 6S1273 on Bring A Trailer

The seller posted the Ford VIN on BAT contrary to the suggestions of many.  He finally took it down.  While I don't know the car, appears it is in need of many corrections based on the pictures and commentary.  Cool story never the less.

I owned 6s383 (5 speed/Paxton) presently on BAT for 19 years and sold it back to the 2nd owner in 2019.

As you stated below, I declined your original offer.

You're pissed off because you were late to the game on a $75 item and someone else purchased it?     ;D

My lack of response?  I responded to your 2nd offer when I returned home from work.   My apologies if my work commitments don't align with your expectations.

Really? over a $75 item that I was 100% transparent on?  The price of a good lunch and you attempt to throw me under the bus because you are butthurt?

The funny thing, I almost just threw the mirror in the trash when I initially opened the box because the thought of dealing with people like you simply isn't worth the very few $

Based on my experience earlier today, I would suggest caution if dealing with this member / seller.

John Kutcy, You're kidding me,  right?    jerk.

First you ask me to ship to Canada at the same price as CONUS (based on the address you provided it was ~$30 more and I declined.   I left home and drove to a business meeting 1.5 hours way.   Returned home later this evening to see you had countered AFTER the item was sold.  Then in your email you attempt to extort me suggesting you are willing to take a chance on a newbie "others may not"  Here was my email response (in red)  to that:

I had to run to another meeting, just returned home.  It has now sold locally.

"I'm willing to take a chance on you as a new member.  Others may not."   Son, that's funny..... I suspect the site shows me as a 'newbie' as this is one of my few posts since their crash a while back.  I'm 64, purchased my first GT500 and joined the SAAC in 1978 and have owned and own a number of Shelbys, BOSS cars, Panteras, 428CJ cars, Vipers,  etc, etc since.

All over a $75 item that I've been nothing but 1000% honest and transparent on.

Randy knows of me, we corresponded some years ago when I purchased "Whitey" a 68.5 CJ car from a friend of his in San Diego (unnamed here) that Randy built the motor on.  I did that $75k deal on a phone call and handshake. Earlier this year I sold a Shelby to a person 3000 miles away who I've never met but have emailed over the last 19 years.   He sent me a check for $180k then had the car picked up.

Great, thank you...

I'm shown as a newbie probably because I've seldom posted since the site crashed.  Guessing the clock restarted  ;^)

SOLD to Greg.....

The bottom of the mirror I'm selling looks like the picture above, the base machining even goes to the center of the front mounting hole as shown above.

I think I can barely make out some markings on the outside of the glass with a magnifying glass, almost looks like XV- P but its super hard to tell. Not sure if that helps..   thanks

still looking, perhaps 9-XV-C      or J AX 4 upside down   IDK

are the bottom of the letters toward the outside edge of the glass ?

For sale, I picked this up 20 years ago for my GT350, it has been sitting in a box on a shelf since.  I don't know its origins, you likely know more about this than I do.  Marked "DS 10021"   very good condition, not perfect.  $75 shipped CONUS.   Direct email is jknott@erols.com    thank you
