Concours Talk / Re: 65 drive shaft loop question
February 01, 2021, 10:03:22 PM
Much thanks Bob and Jeff.

Is there a source for the interior hanger for the exhaust ? Looks like in the top picture just a cut up piece (s) of a regular dual exhaust car ?

Thanks Jeff,

Are the holes "correct" to be there to hold the exhaust? In the top picture the exhaust is indeed hanging from holes in a similar spot,

Or should we repair the holes and hang the exhaust near the pinch weld area like I've seen on other cars?

Concours Talk / 65 drive shaft loop question
February 01, 2021, 07:37:56 PM
I read on vintage mustang forums that the drive shaft loop attached to the seat belt bolts ( first picture of a 65 I used to own - mid 300 sn) ;  second picture shows same area with holes where mine was attached on the car we are putting back together # 296.,,

Which is correct ?

Thanks in advance ( hope this wasn't a question I should have asked a long time ago !)

All - what is the "correct" color and material of the intake gasket on the heads?   I know the front and back are cork.
and - what is the best source for the intake gaskets?

For the brake proportioning valve- the body is painted black correct ? Are the threads and end cap also painted black ?

Thanks,

SAAC Forum Discussion Area / Jim Cowles

All-

I just heard that Jim Cowles passed away this morning.  As you all know, Jim made a life of all things Shelby - he openly shared with all of us his vast knowledge and expertise.  It is a sad day indeed. He was a good friend. And will be missed by many.
Please pray for Jim's family, loved ones and all who knew hi in this time of grief.

Should the engine to bell housing block off plate for a 65 have black paint (engine color) or be a natural steel finish ?
