Up For Auction / Re: 5S208 - on Bring A Trailer

One person estimates the car will go for $725k and another estimates it'll go for north of $500k  These guys must work for Barrett Jackson. Based on the misinformation being advertised, I don't think the top bid will be above $377k.

It's too bad, I'm gonna be in the market for a nice 65 GT350 later this year or in 2024 but this sort of false advertising really puts me off and kills my desire to chase an iconic car like a 65 GT350.

I've got a 07 GT-H that I may part with.  It's one of 17 that were produced with a 5 speed manual transmission.   These cars were owned by Hertz executives and were never part of the rental fleet.  I've owned it for 13 or 14 years, I'll have to check.   Not sure it that might be something your interested in.

Have you or a loved one been injured by a toad or a manatee, perhaps an alligator or an invasive species?  Our firm can help you with the compensation you deserve.  Call 1-800-Everglade-Law for a free consultation.

During the summer months I often receive mosquito bites.   Do I qualify for "the compensation I feel I deserve"  ;D

It's always sad to see a beautiful car like the Ford GT40 get damaged in an accident. However, it's important to remember that safety should always come first, and it's fortunate that no one was injured in the crash at the Goodwood Revival. If you or a loved one have been involved in a car accident, it's important to seek the help of experienced auto accident attorneys to ensure that your rights are protected and you receive the compensation you deserve. In Houston, I recommend checking out the website of a reputable law firm such as auto accident attorneys Houston for more information on how they can assist you.
What the hell is this shit.  1st time poster.  Be gone troll!!

Here's a great clip about some of the history of Ken. It's really worth taking a few minutes to watch it.......... just because.

Nice how did acquire those ??

Allot of the items I acquired were from the ShelbyAuctionsSite on ebay.  When they were moving from the North Las Vegas location to the new Vegas strip location they were selling to ton of items off on their ebay site.  I bought a bunch of the GT-H and Terlingua items they had hanging at the old museum.   I also had a couple of friends who worked at Shelby so I was able to acquire a few other cool and rare GT-H items that were never publicly available.

I loved the old museum and I like the new strip location but my addiction to buying this sort of stuff has subsided over the past couple of years

Shit! This really sucks. Another one of my hero's gone. It's tough, as we all get older and the people we admire pass on. Damn this hurts! Ken was the same age as my wife and a bit older than me but I looked up to him and was a big admirer of his.

I was so excited to see his Hoonigan car at SEMA in Vegas only two short months ago this past November. Rest in peace and race in peace. Will miss you, will miss your videos and will miss your legend. RIP brother.

Van,
I agree with you on all counts. Ebay is now holding your sold funds that includes ANY performance part. Those crooks over there are holding my funds for selling a Boss 429 NASCAR intake that I sold. Not because of any potential buyer issues. Just the opposite...the buyer got the package, and gave me a positive review...F ebay! Once I receive my money, I'm dumping ebay. Boycott them!
I agree F ebay and their theiving accomplices Paypal.   I used to sell the odd item on ebay 15 years ago but I gave that crooked company the heave ho a long time ago.  I only work with legitimate and honorable companies and ebay is not one of them.

Ford GT / Re: How many guys own both
December 17, 2022, 01:37:34 PM
My 06 GT has just under 20k miles on it.  I bought it with 17k miles and drove it from Vegas to my home in Alberta, Canada.   It was a fantastic 20 hour drive home.

I specifically wanted a car that had some miles on it so I could drive it without feeling guilty about adding a bunch of miles.  I also wanted a car with some miles on it so I wouldn't take a big depreciation hit by buying a low mile car and subsequently adding a bunch of miles.  I buy my cars to drive them.

Contact Marti Autoworks at https://www.martiauto.com/  They have original documents for some 68 Shelby's.  I got my original order form from them for my car #1394.

QSS:  Agreed on F1 vs NHRA.  My wife and I went the to the NHRA World Finals at Pomona last weekend. Had a blast. My buddy who is a high-up dude at NHRA got us VIP tower passes.

But we also went into the pits to watch/feel/smell the Top Fuelers light off and get our eyes and lungs burned.

Also had a great conversation with the new Funny Car champ Ron Capps at his pit. I asked him how fast his car would go in reverse, theoretically. He thought about that and said "probably 100 or so, but I don't want to try it." Super nice and friendly guy. Very down-to-earth.

My buddy also got us into the photog area by the starting line. I've been to something like 75+ drag races in my professional life, but the raw-powered performance still impresses.

And the racers/pit crew are much nicer and approachable than I've ever found in Indy or F1.  Well, except for Connie Kalitta. He still looks like he'd bust you in the jaw with a wrench if you pizzed him off.
I know, right!  The burning eyes, the smells, the interaction with the teams and drivers in the pits.  It's the greatest.

My uncle, Walley Protz, has been in drag racing for 65 years.  He turns 80 in 2023 and he knows a ton of people in the drag racing world.  It's unreal.   During the spring NHRA drags in Vegas this year, he brought me into the pit box's of a bunch of the Nitro funny teams and he was introducing me to all the crews and families who have been drag racing longer then I've been alive and I'm 53 freakin years old.  It was awesome!!!  Walley's been around drag racing longer then god.

In my pee brained mind, a NHRA drag race, along with the interaction with the drivers, crews and families, may be the epitome of the racing world.  Not only because of the insane speeds achieved at a NHRA race and the interaction with the drivers and crews, but because of the family like experience down in the pits.  It's the cats ass.  I really like F1 but nothing.... nothing compares to a NHRA event.  The mind numbing, ground shaking, bladder/bowel releasing runs achieved by the women and men at a NHRA event are incredible. ;D  Hell ya!

If you've never gone to a NHRA drag race, you gotta go.  Go stand as close as you can by the track and you'll be shocked, awed, and you might even soil yourself....  in a good way.

I was getting the updates for F1 tickets and I was looking forward to going until I saw the ticket prices.  Standing room only for $500 with a grandstand ticket for $2,600, and it went up from there.  You couldn't see a seating chart and you had very little idea where you might be located.  Hotel rooms are $1,000 a night with a minimum 4 night stay but that didn't really matter to me as I have a place in Vegas so my accommodations are already paid for.

I am certainly not a "high roller" with a private jet and a wad of Benjamins rolled up in an elastic band in my celebrity, bedazzling jeans ???.  I'm more like a "medium roller", a good solid hundredaire if you will, so I can afford the F1 ticket offerings, but when I saw the prices, and the lack of information, I chose to scream neigh (while spiting out my vodka drink).  I.... will..... not..... drop my pants and bend over for the icy F1 finger and make no mistake, it's thick and it's a wide F1 finger so it's gonna hurt......real bad.   I shall, instead, just watch it on TV, drink my Chivas and hurl insults at the tv in a thick, snooty, superior voice while the race runs.  I will check back in for the 2024 race as I am sure the recession will be in full swing by then and I should be able to get a better opportunity with less........ you know....... F1 R@pe.  Time will tell.

In the mean time, I'll just keep going to the spring and fall NHRA races in Vegas which will cost me the princely sum of $89 a day.  AND the Nitro cars are way faster then a F1 car...... 115 mph faster so I'll take a Nitro car driven by Brittany Force (I love your Brittany ;)) at 338.48 MPH vs a bunch of dudes topping out at a very, very respectable 215 MPH.  Very respectable.  Good job F1, everyone gets a medal these days so that should apply to the F1 boys too.  F1 is my Silver Medal ;D.

QSS

PS   Don't tell my wife about my Brittany comment, she'd kick my ass.
