My guess is that they are waiting for the results of the silica tests comparing the sand in the cowl vents to the sand where Jim was doing donuts in the desert area.  Rumor has it that it will be 99% match.

Unless my aging eyes are failing me, it doesn't look like any of the BAT expert peanut gallery (not referring to Craig C) picked up on the fact that the complete floor pan or at least two complete sides were replaced.  I say this given that it appears that none of the four drain holes are opened up or have the covers screwed over them.  I guess it is less important than the steering wheel, establishing that there were 85 4 speed Hertz cars (something that was known at least in the 80's), and that there were more colors than Black & gold.

Just did this on some bolts. Was too cheap to buy anything new (didn't have any evaporust handy) so raided the household cleaning shelf, found some toilet bowl cleaner called "Kaboom" used to remove scale & rust stains. It contains hydrochloric acid, made quick and easy work of the yellow zinc.

I have seen a whole lot worse restored, there are a lot of rare parts still with this car so at least the new owner isn't starting over in finding $$$$ parts. 

This car if for the person that can do and enjoys doing the metal work themselves and is proficient in doing it correctly.

Agree completely. Don't forget the Hertz pulled out of the dirt in the last year or so that was so bad it almost broke in half... "praise the lord let's save that Ford"
