Shelby American History / FAV Ford GT Transporter(s)
October 04, 2019, 01:07:10 PM
I came across this online, I don't have the source noted
I was thinking they were used during the unsuccessful 1964 campaign.
It appears to be the side of the FAV building in the background.

Would this be one of the Ford Engineering cars? early 260?

-- "11M103" Michigan MFG plate would be Ford
-- The wall in the background suggests Ford Dearborn Engineering Center
-- the trees suggest May ~ Sept in Mich.
CSX2008 prior to body removal?
Other possibilities ??

I find the date of publication interesting in the timeline of the GT350 program, May 1964, so the actual driving event would be 30~60 days earlier,  March/April 1964??
Regular production started April 1964, I recall the SAI testing at Riverside took place later in the summer 64, Chuck Cantwell was hired in August?

"At present, Ford has plans for Carroll Shelby (of the Cobras) to campaign 3 of these cars as a team on the Sports Car Club of America circuit.
They'll run in A production catagory (pending acceptance), where in Ford's words,....we hope they finish right behind the Cobras and right in front of the Sting Rays.
They may just do that because they have all the optional equipment ready to do the job. The special racing options include the 271-HP Cobra engine, further suspension modifications
(which include an independent rear system that's very similar to that used on their all-out GT race car - more on that later this year).
The racing version will also be set up with disc brakes at all four corners.
No drivers have been announced yet, but it's safe to bet that Dave MacDonald, the stock/sports car driver will top the list."
CA MFG plate # 13X 014

photos credited to Jim Wright & Jerry Titus, I wonder who did the track driving ???

Is that Jerry under the hood ??

We had an enjoyable time watching the different classes this past week-end.

There was a FIA 64 Falcon that was very well sorted and driven!
6S1838 ( Tom Shelton), and a 70 B302 ( John Cloud ) both with finger prints from Cobra Automotive were great to see.
Other cars of interest was a 68 T/A coupe, and 2 SPF small block Cobra's, they didn't figure in the top places in Group 6.

A very nice chap had a Capri with the Duckworth 3.0L conversion and a Escort MK-I, former Paul Newman car.

CSX 2000 Series / CSX2286 FE Install
April 18, 2019, 12:57:25 PM
This appears to be in the Venice shop, "CSX2286" marked on the spring tower, and they are fitting a FE engine.
I'm sure our resident experts can chime in with what version motor it is?? MR, perhaps a STD Cobra engine?

So was the chassis modified to accept the FE prior to shipping over to Modena for the bodywork to be fitted?

I haven't seen this before, there's a brief glimpse of CSX2196 as the flip-top in raw aluminum.

The green flag drops for Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta on Oct. 13, 2018. The race will be broadcasted inside the U.S. on FOX Sports 1 and 2, starting at 10:30 a.m. ET, and outside the U.S. on IMSA.tv.

BRASELTON, Ga.- The suspense will be over soon for Ford Chip Ganassi Racing and the other IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship teams still in contention for 2018 championship and Tequila PatrĂ³n North American Endurance Cup (TPNAEC) titles.

After leading the GTLM standings for much of the year, Ford CGR enters Petit Le Mans as the underdog, even after all but securing the manufacturer's title for Ford.

The No. 67 duo of Ryan Briscoe and Richard Westbrook are second in the driver and team standings, nine points behind the leaders, entering the 10-hour Petit Le Mans, the final race of the season.

Briscoe and Westbrook combined to earn three wins (Rolex 24, Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Road America) and two poles (Watkins Glen, VIR) so far this year.

Has anyone else watched this on Amazon Prime?

it details the program with interviews along the way, includes drivers, Chip Ganassi / Multimatic folks talking about what went wrong & right.

Not a bad story IMHO.

I felt sorry for Duirk Mueller in #66 who put down a great qualifying run to start 1st on the grid,
but got bumped in the race, ran over a curb and broke a toe link, repairs put them back in the pack.

Richard Westbrook / Ryan Briscoe kept the #67 in contention and brought home a win!

Went out to see this event, interesting action but no FoMoCo V8 power in the competition.
However spectators could drive the track during the noon break, and this 65 was thundering around the track.

It has extensive race history in the midwest, the owner was very willing to talk, a very enjoyable conversation,
but since I didn't get permission from the owner to share details, I'll share only the photo.

It's interesting P1005 is now vintage racing.

The photos were on the GT40 forum.
This appears to align with the reports of the burned chassis due to a garage fire was left to sink into a river bank.

I believe chassis #1127 was used to "restore" this car.

Riverside, Ken Miles, Allen Grant, Shelby Falcon, the opening 10 minutes is lots of race footage of Cobras with "studio" footage cut in.
