Can anyone tell me what number this Cobra is?  It's an early one with a 260.

Location: Cameron, Texas, 76092
Stock #: 50332
Transmission: Manual
Condition: Excellent

Seller's Description: This stunning, black on black original Shelby Cobra CSX20XX is one of the first Cobras built by Shelby American in 1962. It is equipped with the original 260 C. I. V8 engine, the original differential and the original aluminum case T10 Borg Warner four speed transmission. All the other components are either refurbished originals or NOS. Well over $100,000 was invested in the restoration.

This beautifully restored slab side Cobra is 100% correct, right down to the windshield squirter nozzles. During inspection, the only non-correct component we noted was the VIN tag, which was installed so that the car could be registered in Texas. It is a correct VIN tag, but for a later model slab side Cobra (built after CSX2125.)

The current owner of this 1962 Cobra has owned it since the 1970's. The car was a bit dusty the day we took the pictures, but the black paint is stunning. It is an excellent, highly detailed restoration. Sometime during its life, it was painted red, but it was repainted the correct black color during the restoration.

This authentic Shelby Cobra can be purchased for $1,150,000 US. With Cobra values on the rise, this is an excellent investment.
Price: $1,150,000

I just wanted to share this.  Here is an original Magstar rim which was purchased back in 1968.  The seller informed me that his father was the original owner of a 67 GT350, and that he ordered 2 extra rims from the dealer to mount snow tires.  One was lost, but might still be at his fathers house which he will look for.  I thought this was interesting in 2 ways.  First, it shows the color of the raw metal centers on an early version of the rim.  Second, I've never seen an original box before.   Pretty cool.  The seller told me he was going to mount it on the wall, and use the rim to coil his garden hose around.  He certainly would have had the coolest garden feature in his neighborhood. ;)

I found a car part I'm interested on Craig's List, but the seller will only do cash in person.  Is anyone near Pompton Plains, NJ and have the time to go check it out, and possibly purchase it?  I'll send you money to cover the purchase, shipping and your time.

Thanks,

Brian

i just picked up an Autolite battery stand.  I also bought a few NOS batteries, unfortunately non of them are OEM for our cars.  But they still look pretty cool.  Anyone else have any Autolite collectibles they'd like to share?

I've never seen these in black before.  Is it a reissue from a few years later, and not an original Shelby American item from the catalog?

https://www.edmunds.com/car-reviews/features/100-worst-cars-of-all-time.html

I used to own an '06 Solstice.  They're right, it was a POS.

If there weren't bad cars, how could the world appreciate the good ones? Since we already went through the Top 100 Vehicles of All-Time, here's a look at some truly awful vehicles. Some of them were fragile. Many were dynamically iffy. A lot were underpowered. And a few would melt into a pile of rust before your eyes.

Terrible, for this list's purposes, is loosely defined as a car that shaped current American automotive culture around its bad example. That doesn't mean that all the cars here were big sellers, only that their undeniable stink made everyone notice.

The diabolical nature of these machines, however, is that there's a good idea at the heart of all of them. But it's a good idea betrayed by half-effort engineering, haphazard quality and cynical compromises.

100. 2006 Pontiac Solstice: Star-crossed idea executed with parts bin technology, a ridiculous top, goofy cockpit and a trunk taxed by a single T-shirt. It was supposed to save Pontiac. Instead this overweight, underpowered, crudely engineered P.O.S. helped kill it.

99. 1967 Fiat 124 Sport Coupe: Neat little two-door ruined by the lousy Russian-made steel Fiat used. Rust was standard equipment on every 124 Sport Coupe.

98. 1988 Eagle Premier: AMC's last gasp was this boring box built around the Renault 25 chassis. Also sold as the Dodge Monaco for no apparent reason.

97. 1999 Daewoo Nubira: For a brief, not-so-shining moment, Korea's Daewoo sold cars in the United States. No one noticed and the Nubira is why.

96. 1992 Acura Vigor: A clumsy, redressed Accord with a longitudinally mounted five-cylinder engine. It was the first of too many Acuras that have been easy to dislike.

95. 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP: Shoving a 303-horsepower, 5.3-liter LS4 V8 into the front-drive Grand Prix was silly. Having front tires wider than the rears was just plain stupid.

94. 1996 Ariel Atom: Its nickname is the "woman repellent." Perfect for the track, utter misery on any road. A helmet isn't just for safety; it's the driver's roof, windshield and HVAC system. Helmet also keeps anyone you know from seeing you drive it.

93. 1989 Vector W8: Gerald Wiegert's 625-hp, $400,000-plus folly was obsolete by the time it finally hit production. Only 17 reached customers — and they needed to be shadowed by a flatbed.

92. 1997 General Motors EV1: Advanced technology produces an all-electric that rides poorly, can't haul anything and has the range of a Tyco R/C car. Set electric cars back at least a decade.

91. 1978 Dodge Challenger: A Mitsubishi Galant coupe wears the name of a muscle car legend. The top engine? A 2.6-liter four making — GACK! — 105 hp. The base 2.0-liter puked out only 77 ponies.

90. 2000 Saleen S7: With 550 hp onboard, theoretically it was awesome. But actually it was fragile and just smelled like a kit car. Twin-turbo version came in 2005 at 750 hp with a $585,296 sticker.

89. 2004 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti: A big, blundering, bulbous four-seat Ferrari. The 5.7-liter V12 made 532 hp, but that wasn't enough to pull off the ugly. More Buick than Ferrari.

88. 1993 Ford Aspire: Built by Kia, sold by Ford and ignored by everyone. Basically a 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine and four wheels bolted to a prison cell.

87. 1989 Geo Metro: Suzuki-made, three-cylinder icon of economic marginalization. Tonight's pizza will be delivered in one. It was even worse as a soggy-chassis convertible.

86. 1990 Chevrolet Lumina APV: Plastic-bodied van with an aardvark nose and dashboard top big enough to host a track meet. The Chevy along with its Pontiac or Oldsmobile equivalent were so stupid-looking they were nicknamed the dustbuster vans.

85. 1987 Volkswagen Fox: VW brings a version of the "Gol" up from Brazil for U.S. consumption. The 1.8-liter four makes 80 hp and feeds a four-speed manual transmission.

84. 2001 Jaguar X-Type: Spitting on its own heritage, Jag takes the Ford Mondeo and forces it to wear shrunken XJ sheet metal. It was an insult to loyal Jaguar owners and a joke to everyone else.

83. 1978 Volvo 262C: Italy's Bertone turns Volvo's boxy 260 Series into a two-door coupe only Stockholm's dumbest pimp could love.

82. 1990 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Convertible: It's the front-drive Cutlass no one liked without all that pesky structural integrity. Like driving a cracked egg.

81. 1973 Austin Allegro: Thankfully never exported to America. Underpowered and featuring a problematic "Hydragas" pneumatic suspension, it's the car Top Gear loves to hate.

80. 1980 Rover 3500: Powered by a 133-hp 3.5-liter V8 set adrift by Buick. The body would rot when driven near any body of water, including wading pools and coffee cups.

Can anyone suggest the best place to purchase 5 large lettered Goodyear Speedway Tires?  The prices I keep finding are very expensive!  I just wondered who offered the best pricing?

NOS 10HN Autolite Battery - Predecessor to what became the G22F (plastic top late 1965) truly dry charged and sold as-is. If your car took the standard battery...This is it. Packed perfectly. These don't ship well but this one will. Fully Insured, too. Yep...that's the factory paint and "box smear" at the bottom. Untouched original.

Ok, just posting this for the slim possibility that it actually is something of interest to anyone on the forum.  I was recently communicating with a guy, who is out in the hills of California, who claims to have acquired lot's of unusual prototype engines from his uncle.  He said that he has what he was told was an original Mark III frame (although missing some support structures), but was acquired from SA many years ago.  Obviously, I'm very doubtful about a claim like that.  I also know nothing about original Cobra frames.    Thoughts, comments, flames?

A friend just asked me whether or not any of the smog equipment off a 1967 S code 390 would be compatible with a 1967 GT500?

Not mine, but quite interesting bodywork.

https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/cto/d/1966-mustang-hipo-coupe-code/6504169204.html

I'm selling my 66 coupe. I bought the car in March 2016. It has some interesting history. It spent all of it's life in NJ until 2016. The original owner bought it new and raced it on road courses. It was restored as a tribute to the 1965-66 SCCA Trans Am series cars. I've never seen a Mustang like it, very unique and a head turner. Really nice driver with good power and handling.

* 1965 289 block (C5AE-6015E)
* 1969 351 Windsor heads (ported)
* Pertronix Ignitor Electronic ignition (D-57)
* New Carter fuel pump
* 1965 Autolite 4100 (C5AF-AA) 600 CFM Carburetor - Rebuilt by J and J Carburetors in Fullerton, CA
* Shelby hi-rise aluminum intake (SFJD-9425-F aftermarket)
* Tri-y headers
* 1966 factory 9" rear, 3.50 gears
* Factory front disc brakes, rear drum
* New Raybestos PG Plus New Brake Master Cylinder (MC36440)
* Aftermarket front & rear sway bars
* Scott Drake Traction Master Bars
* Maier N.B. Spoiler kit
* Maier #301A Flares, Front & Rear
* Maier Gravel shield
* Shelby race style seat belts
* Montecarlo bar
* T5 5-speed Transmission (1352-155) - out of a 1987 Thunderbird
* OEM style T5 shifter, boot and knob
* New instrument cluster lens & lights (gauges work)
* Vintage American Racing Classic Mag Wheels
** Front 9", BF Goodrich Radial T/A P225/60 R15
** Rear 11", BF Goodrich Radial T/A P255/60 R15
* New 3/8" Stainless Steel fuel line tank to pump
* New turn signal switch
* Much more...

The body is in good condition. One small bubble forming on the bottom right of the passenger door. The flares look great. I have some parts that go with the car as well. Lots of receipts and documentation.

The car is registered as a PA antique with a 1966 period correct license plate. If you're in PA then everything transfers to the new owner as is, i.e. antique registration & plate. The mileage is unknown.

This is mine on eBay:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1967-Shelby-Mustang-GT350-GT500-289-428-Original-Fiberglass-Hood-Vintage-OEM-NOS/132509585394

This is an original, service replacement OEM full fiberglass hood, which was installed on a 1967 Shelby back in 1969 at the dealer following a minor front end accident. It has louvers which are correct for all 1967 Shelby air conditioned cars, and some later Shelby VIN numbered cars. It can also be placed on any 1967 Shelby, or clone to give it a more aggressive look and, more importantly, to greatly improve under hood temperatures. I can help with shipping, including fabricating a shipping container to send anywhere. Nothing fits or creates value like original Shelby/Ford parts, your car deserves the best. Rare opportunity. Shipping to be determined. Pictures: https://imageshack.com/a/5opl/1

I just finished watching Phantom Works, season 5 episode 3, One Salty Shelby.  I know it was discussed on the last forum, but I had a question about the engine compartment of this 1970 GT500.  During the show, they remarked that when the car was put in reverse, the driver's side exhaust manifold bumped the inner shock towers.  They never resolved this, but instead chalked it up to that's what Ford and Shelby had to deal with, so don't worry about it.  Really?  Does anyone on here who owns a 69/70 with a 428 SCJ experience the same issue?

2250 man hours, over $50,00 in parts alone.  Hard to believe anyone would be stupid enough to spend that kind of money and not have one of the well respected Shelby restoration shops perform the work.  All things being equal, which car would have a higher resale value, a $200,000 restoration from phantom Works, or from one of our regular contributors on this forum who are known experts?  I'm thinking this guy really wanted to be on TV badly.

Not mine, but I know there a few of you on here who collect these.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Shelby-Hertz-Cocktail-Glass-Bridgehampton-Race-Course/162917233409?hash=item25ee9fb301:g:N4IAAOSweUFaka12

Shelby Hertz Cocktail Glass from Hertz Sports Car Club circa 1966.

Glass itself is in very nice condition. No visible scratches or chips.

Most of the gold is worn from around the rim. Track logo is in good condition. I believe there is a method to restore the gold on these glasses.

1967 Shelby GT350/500 / Question about louvered hoods
February 21, 2018, 08:05:59 AM
I recently posted that I have a service replacement full fiberglass hood with louvers for sale.  I've been contacted by the current owner of car no. 3070.  A very nice guy who wondered if we know whether his car would have come with a louvered hood or not.  It's not an A/C car, but interestingly, it does have tinted windows according to the registry.  The SJ date 6/23/67 is and SA date is 7/21/67.  Any thoughts?
