Concours Talk / 1969 Front sway bar

On a 69 GT500, what finish does the front sway bar have? Same question for the endlinks and components, bushing mounts and mount bolts.

SAAC Forum Discussion Area / member contact
June 16, 2019, 08:16:59 AM
Being new here, I am not sure as to all the protocols. But I would like to ask if there is a list, or way to see what other member live in my area of Northern Georgia. I am looking to find 69 GT500 owners that I can meet with and discuss issues over the car to help me while I put my car together. I am familiar with the fact that there is a registry, but do not know how to view it, or if it has the members by state, or even if there is contact information.  I would appreciate any insight on this since I am hoping to have a finished car as nice as most of your.

Is there anything different on a Shelby C6 vs. a stock Ford C6?  Are they aluminum body with cast iron tail shaft?

Concours Talk / hardware for 69 GT500
June 12, 2019, 03:04:09 PM
My car came nearly completely disassembled, hence I am missing most of the hardware. East Coast Bolts sells a Shelby hardware kit and I would like opinions as to how accurate (or not) they are.  I need the hardware for nearly the entire car so your input is important.

Concours Talk / 69 Shelby riveted wheel
June 04, 2019, 04:48:00 PM
I understand (unfortunately) that no one restores these. My set has very nice chrome, but the aluminum spokes need some light attention.  Is there anything that could be done to improve the appearance of them? Mask the chrome and a light media blast??? Does any one have a picture of what they should look like?

What is the best/proper way to restore them? OR who do you recommend restore them?
#168
As I am getting my components together, I have realized that I will need some specialty help from some outside vendors. The following items will require professionals far better than me, to make them nice and original. If any of you have some recommendations for me as to who to send these items to, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance for all your knowledge and recommendations

Outside service items needed for restoration.
steering wheel
Shelby wheels
instruments
carburetor
wiring harness
seatbelts
shifter handle
brake booster
air-conditioning components
a.m. – 8-track radio

what stall torque converter to use power

Concours Talk / Smog pump
May 20, 2019, 01:10:12 PM
On your 69 500's, what are most of you doing with the smog pump? Are you restoring everything and making it fully functional, or deleting this item from the engine. And if restoring it, who do you recommend to restore it?

Concours Talk / Questions from a newbie
May 18, 2019, 12:29:10 PM
Hi, from a newbie, to my soon to be new friends.
I just purchased a 1969 Shelby GT 500, grabber blue car, and am looking for guidance in the restoration process. I am aware that most restoration books tend to be mediocre at best, but could you fine folks point me to one of the better books out there for reference? And please don't be afraid to point out what is wrong in those books.
I have been professionally restoring cars for nearly 40 years now. But my specialty has always leaned toward the Mopars. I tend to be very detailed conscious, and strive to be as authentic and correct as I can for putting a car together. I am aware that there are always nuances and inconsistencies (which is why I am asking for YOUR help) to minimize as many mistakes, and reworks, as I can.
You, as current owners, enthusiasts, and knowledgeable experts can also help me (and hopefully others) by pointing out some of the more common mistakes made in restoring Shelby's. Anything to prevent me from having to redo something (because I did wrong the first time) will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks to everyone in advance.
