if you use thinner you will lose the original black. you will have a clean plate though.

   but i have strong suspicions the door tag (reproduction) codes don't reflect how the car was built !

Why would a Dearborn built car be sold to the San Jose district when the Milpas plant was churning out cars by 1966?
C engine code 289 2v with a 4 speed is not common,  more likely a 3 sp. or C4 auto
Locking diff axle with 289 2v, ....... I'm not buying that either .....  just say'in

i have seen this several times. completely legit. it depended on who had all the parts on hand to fill the order when the order was entered. agreed it was not the norm but did happen.

that's not a good idea. those parts were painted at different times at differing locations so they were not all from the same batch of paint. each part has its own shade of semi-gloss.

along those same lines i once saw several 65-66's at an MCA national that had the quarter panel drain plugs installed upside down. turns out that all the cars were 'restored' by the same shop which shall remain nameless.

respectfully i believe you are confusing the two terms. sound deadner is factory applied then covered with body color. undercoating is a slightly different product that is applied at the dealer level. if you want to be factory correct then do as jeff suggested. your car-your choice.

brandas magazine ads also state that some of his parts are MCA approved. lots of items on his website state the same thing. MCA has not approved parts for over a decade.

i guess that means you are doubting kevin marti's authentication of both cars. nothing sketchy at all.

Were the larger than factory break calipers used I believe in trans Am competition calipers from a T bird and/or Lincoln and the spindles for these calipers that were used were installed with a tapered bushing to make the smaller factory pieces work does this sound close ?
