This were taken last year when the car was for sale on Facebook market place. Looks like it took a real heavy hit on the drivers side.

It sold and is being re-sold as we speak on this website. Looks like it had a splash and dash paint job and some body work which hopefully included addressing that severe collision and rust damage. The interior and drive train were not touched.
Last seen in 1970 around Cincinnati, Ohio. Owner was listed as Judith Bell.
I own 2714 so that car is almost a family member :). Mine has factory air also so I guess, maybe, that they produced air cars in series.

Yes, also the non-air cars or automatics or 4-speed Thermactor, the Package Code (engine, trans, A/C or not, thermactor or not constituted the Basis of the DSO (District Sales Order) in this case Shelby American placing and order for a group of cars to be built with the same features - the same body, engine and drive train and major accessories.
Things like exterior color or wheels could change within the DSO but the major bits Body, engine and drive train and major accessories could not.

These cars were built in DSO groups (only at Ford's CA, San Jose factory), per the the DSO order SAI sent to Ford
The DSO number range was 2501 thru 2614. (some groups within the range were cancelled)
HOWEVER,
The only difference between cars in each DSO group was the paint colors.
The engine/trans package were identical, as was the interior color per each DSO.
Some material shortages forced Ford to substitute an engine on 4 DSO groups, involving the emissions engine packages.
They are all documented and happened at the beginning of the year in 1967.
Some material shortages caused the interior trim to change as well (comfortweave vs Smooth seat material).
The interior trim color was identical within each group as ordered.
Some production changes at Ford with parts did occur, but they were limited so that each DSO group was identical.
Some production changes occurred at Shelby American as well. They were done oblivious to DSO groups.
The options of the wheels, the radio, and noted Le Mans stripes are the only changes that could have been done by Shelby American at LAX.
The DSO groups built at Ford would have been identical, with the same wheels and radio/or not at SJ. Most cars did not get a radio at SJ.

The 1967 Shelby Research group is a great resource for anyone interested in how these cars were built and what, how, why, and when the running production changes were incorporated. There are many questions that are still unanswered but new data seems to come to light all the time. Over time, the full picture should emerge.
