Title: 1967 Shelby GT350 Radiator Hose Clamps
Post by: Shelby_r_b on August 27, 2019, 12:06:41 PM
A question has come up about the type of radiator hoses used on 1967 GT350s.  It is my understanding that all 1967 small blocks came with radiator hoses having the camps stapled on versus the tower style clamps.

Were the staple style clamps used on all 67 GT350s?  Or, were there any other clamp style radiator hoses used and under what scenarios?

Thanks!

Not every hose clamp was a wire style on the GT350's, some of the smaller hoses did use a tower style.

Hey JD,

Yes, I believe the bypass hose used tower clamps, but the upper and lower radiator hoses - would those all have been the stapled type?

Thanks!

67 GT350 typically used the wire style clamp on the radiator hoses. This started shortly after 1966 GT350 production began and were used through 70 GT350 production. This is a Mustang production norm for the plants that built the Shelby's.  No other scenarios that I have seen or can think of. Taking into account the bigger picture helps understand better the likely hood of a change or deviation from normal.

Got it - thanks to you both! I had someone saying that the tower style clamp was correct on some 67 GT350s, but I wanted to check first.   :D

  Can I simplify the answer?
The larger hoses the go to and from the radiator: Wire type clamps that are stapled to the hose.
The heater hoses and bypass hose: tower types, but beware, the bypass hose has a slightly smaller size then the heater hose clamps.  Oh, and watch the fastener "clocking".

Great - thanks, Rod!  :D

Pay attention to the clocking of the bypass hose tower clamps.

Taking the clocking analogy further, if we view the engine head on, what clock positions are correct for the bypass?
