Title: 1966 Shelby GT350 Tach
Post by: KMKUWL on May 24, 2019, 01:19:40 PM
I'm looking to do a light cleaning on the face of my '66 GT350 tach.  I don't want to disassemble the entire tach since it works great.  I would prefer to just remove the front cover.  Any advice before I blindly tear into it?

Thanks, Kerry

   Kerry,
Remove the rear cup and you will see the chrome bezel on the front is held on by many bent tabs. CAREFULLY ( and no more than absolutely needed) bend the tabs and remove the bezel.( all of the tabs may not need to be bent fully). Next the glass face "could" be stuck to the rubber seal and can be "released" with a razor blade being careful not to chip the glass which is actually fragile on the edges. "I" recommend the gasket be left on the tach if possible . Use a very mild soap (I have used diluted baby shampoo). The reassemble when you are finished cleaning. Others may have better suggestions but this worked for me.

Thanks for the tips Randy.  I'll give it a try this weekend.
