Title: C5AF-E autolite distributor
Post by: shelbymann1970 on April 23, 2019, 12:14:28 PM
I have one:
C5AF-12127-E. Listed as an application for:
427Shelby

65-71 390 All_HIPerf

65 427 Ford Special 4v ST exc/trans.idn.

65-70 427 428 All_HiPerf

65-67 427 Hipo Ford Fairlane 4v,6v.8v

67 428 Shelby GT500

65-67 427 Cobra
Date code appears to be "0A7". The zero shows as a half stamp(looks almost like a 1). So with a Jan,7,1970 date what exactly would it had been used on in 1970? Thanks. Gary

Given the date code ,it could be a service replacement part for a earlier application . A common Muscle parts catalog item . A over the counter modification part not used on a any production car from the factory by 1970. All of those things can explain the date of manufacture.

Over the counter part as Bob mentioned. The "Muscle Parts Catalog" was widely distributed back then and that distributor was mentioned in some of the build information. Those with '70 dates are very common. I have three at the moment. Great distributor but certainly not a ''production line" part. The last ones used on a "production " engines to use that would have been the '67 Fairlanes with the 427 and the '67 GT500s. Nothing after those vehicles used the centrifugal only distributors.

Thanks Bob and Randy. I had it lying around and just looked at it yesterday and looked over the numbers. It is pretty dirty, used and gutted of the points/hardware.  Gary
