Title: 1966 magnum 500 wheels-
Post by: Cjc6566 on January 25, 2019, 04:23:30 PM
If you attended Marcus Anghel's open house last week you may have noticed my car 1604 sitting in his shop was missing a spare tire.  Over the last two years I have been fortunate with the help of forum members to locate 4 original magnums.... thought I would try again and see if anyone has one they would part with... willing to pay market price and shipping costs.

Thanks

Cory James

Can you post pictures of what an original looks like.  I have a buddy that may have some.

Hi Greg,

All original chrome GT350 Magnum 500's will be marked JK 795C 14X6 UNISTYLE with a back spacing pretty close to 3.375 or slight larger, not over 3.500 inches.  Anything else is not an original wheel.  The same hoop came on Chrysler and GM products, but with different back spacing and the GM wheel with a 5 on 4.75 lug nut pattern.

Below is a link to a wheel that is often confused or ID'd as a Shelby GT350 wheel, but is not.  It has all the right marking, but the wrong back spacing at 4.5 inches.

Below is are two images of the correct Magnum 500's on GT350H's.  The black car has very healthy tires, possible 245/60R14's.  They might be a little too big, but I like the look.

Best of luck

Cory

Thanks for the pictures Cory

I have chased 10-12 Craig's List ads or  EBay auctions over the last few years only to find out wheels advertised as " original Shelby wheels"  all had well over 3.5 backspacing.  One such ad I bought 4 wheels where the seller confirmed back spacing but when the wheels arrived the backspacing was over 4!! The good news is that seller did provide full refund... needless to say many more GM wheels vs Shelby.
