Title: 350 hood hinges
Post by: tblackgt350 on January 24, 2019, 11:47:23 PM
Can you guys tell me how to correctly restore the hood hinges on #330; do I send them out for cad plating or blast and paint them?

Thanks

They are phosphate and more often than not the holes are worn.  I would also make sure that they are correct and date coded for your vehicle if you're going to have them restored. They are usually worn out and many replaced long ago.  The person I knew that was doing them no longer does. Perhaps someone can steer you to a restorer on the forum.

Check to see how warn they are or if they are bent as a first step - along with checking to make sure they are original for a 66. They can be replated though the springs need to be plated at a lower temp to make sure the temper of the metal is not affected in the process.
