On eBay? Shouldn't this be at B-J or Mecum auctions. 8)
It isn't the only one. Shelby imported several when he was associated with Chrysler. Iocca was considering buying Detomaso and they were needed for evaluation.
At least one had a small block Mopar installed in it in place of the 351c.
Later they bought Lamborghini instead. I believe it is the Diablo that has a Chrysler vin tag on it?
I would love to see the paperwork that proves De Tomasso "gifted"the car to Shelby... ::)
Wait, he didn't sign his own dashboard?

I believe he traded in 9 1966 Thunderbirds he had leftover from a failed promotion.
Smoking Crack at that Price..

. Well it would certainly provide funds for an "extended rock cocaine sojourn ".... ;)
Those inner door panels look hideous :o
Probably has a "leftover" Boss 351 in it. ( like that could happen) CS had a "similar" (if not this car) '83 with a turbo'd small block Chrysler done by the late Art Chrisman (rip) . It was NOT CA smog legal when it was offered for sale 20+ years ago at one of CS's "opportunity sales" and didn't sell IIRC because of that.

Series 1 also not smog legal. About the only car CS had left from his Ford days was the last Continental convertible they gave him. You probably remember the big pile of warranty Pantera transaxles in Stroppe's back room on Signal Hill.
Here's a pix I shot at the Bonhams pre-auction viewing at Shelby Gardena on May 5, 2018.

Maybe he opened the trunk and found something in it ;D

Yep, sold at the Bonhams sale. Good luck trying to get it through smog if you need to! Aye. But at that price, most likely not changing hands anytime soon
Kind of confused here.
George Stauffer imported the 80's Pantera's, to my best knowledge.
He also had a black Pantera GTS factory race car.
I must be wrong though?
Merry Christmas,
John

Stauffer wasn't exclusive to the imports. Chrysler imported 12 using Shelby as the official importer.
One had the 318 put in it as a feasibility study. I think Shelby himself had three. Others have turned up in Europe.
Kirk Evans imported them also as rolling chassis. They were titled as Amerisport's and those were Federalized with cats and the like. I don't know how many there were of those.
They still show up today. Most that I have seen for sale wound up in Canada.
They are all of the wrinkled leather interior type, single dash pod. Some with Australian Clevelands. Some with 351 Windsors.
They also have the later "boxed in" rear upright designs.
As best as I can remember, his cars all came in ready to sell.
I actually received a Christmas card today from him.
Should be chatting with him in the near future, will ask about how they were delivered.
Merry Christmas

He, who? Stauffer? As I remember, grey market cars. Could never get through California emissions. Still can't.
Truly do not know anything about Ca emissions.
I do know that he imported them, and as I recall, more than a few?
I do believe they did have the wrinkled leather type upholstery.
Merry Christmas,
john
