Title: 68 # 3210
Post by: Coralsnake on November 03, 2018, 07:17:51 PM
Somehow, the information from the eBay auction that stated "this car is a rebody" seems to have been lost to some over the last ten years

Here it is at auction, a complete fabrication, non-original tags, non original body. No mention of the eBay listing or the statements made in that 2007 auction. Please take this into account if you have interest in the car.

The ultimate muscle car! This is the one that you've always dreamed about! You've worked hard, now it's time to fulfill that dream and have some fun! Imagine the thrill when you feel the awesome power of the 428 cubic inch cobra jet engine. This car had original candy apple red exterior, with a white convertible top and black décor interior. This Shelby was also equipped with a C-6 automatic transmission, power steering, power disc brakes, tilt-away steering column, air conditioner, tinted glass, visibility group, full gauges, and a 3.00 ratio 9 inch limited slip rear end. Built at Metuchen on 5-21-1968, it's one of only 222 Shelby GT 500 KR convertible cars ever produced, so you won't see someone driving a car like yours. This car has been professionally disassembled, soda blasted, and primed. This is a rust free car that is free of body filler. All of the important parts are included with the car. When this car is professionally finished, it will be among the rarest, fastest, most desirable cars ever built. This is an investment that will certainly increase in value and you can also have great fun with it. E-mail me any questions that you may have about this piece of history. Serious inquiries only, please!

On Oct-20-07 at 08:00:56 PDT, seller added the following information:

THIS CAR IS A REBODY! The car is pickup only! I would consider transporting the car and parts for an extra $$$$.

I don't think that is the same Car, because he says: "PLEASE NOTE: THE PHOTOS OF THE COMPLETE (RED PAINTED) CAR ARE NOT THE CAR FOR SALE. THE PHOTOS WERE INCLUDED TO SHOW WHAT THE COMPLETED CAR WILL LOOK LIKE! "

And the speedo and RPM should be 140 and 8K respectively.

And of course wrong gauges elsewhere.

Do all 68's have the Dash Knee Pad just above the Glove Box?

Im not going to be specific about whats wrong, because this car is a total reconstruction. A laundry list would not be appropriate.

Just to be clear, I am not accusing anyone of anything. I am merely presenting the 2007 auction, so potential buyers can make up thier own minds. You dont have to accept my post, just read what was posted on eBay in 2007

It is the same car. The auction text posted here is from 2007.

The photo of the shell is what the car being passed off as 3210 looked like during the 2007 auction

There is no doubt

No, that was an engineering/safety change during the model year.
