Looking for suggestions to ship a 66 GT350 Transmission.
I found this at summit.
Does anyone have any experience using a good "off the shelf" shipping enclosure or is everyone building a wooden box/crate?
Thank you
Fran

I have always built a wooden crate. Drain the transmission before shipping.

Yes used those or one like it before before and they are great. As mentioned you want to drain the oil out before shipping and make sure you have it secured inside beyond a shadow of a doubt.
I build one out of 1/2" cdx plywood and bolt it to the box. I cut the plywood on the ends with lift handles so it is easy to handle in shipping. Do not use flakeboard. That will break easily.
Jesse at Shelby Parts had one, I seem to remember he would loan it out.
I go a plastic storage box at Home Depot several years ago. Here's one that's very similar:

I have several that store transmissions. Expensive to ship but worth it.
