Title: Hood treatment
Post by: Thomas sweden on October 27, 2026, 04:12:03 PM
Hi !
I have a 1969 GT 500, and the Marti Report mentions "with blackout hood treatment." What does that mean?

Nothing related to the Shelby hood, but instead part of the cars original and humble beginnings going down the line like any other Mach I would have.

"with blackout hood treatment" does not apply to your Shelby . Instead in this case is paperwork evidence of the base Mach I that your Shelby started out as before conversion.  The Marti report reflects what was done on the Ford assembly line and not AO Smith assembly line that converted the car into a Shelby.

That what the 5 stands for on your  fastback door tag color code but its not on the convertible door tags.
