I bought a 66 Mustang project and to my surprise the 4 speed that came with it has a VIN stamp on the bottom that I've confirmed came in a 67 GT350.
The person who maintains the 67 Shelby registry has tried to contact the owner of this car- called multiple times and even mailed him a letter with my contact info. I have not been contacted by him.
Any suggestions on how to get this toploader back with the Shelby it originally came in ?
Thanks-

🤔 reminds me of a YouTube video I saw once
Road trip.
Otherwise wait for that Shelby to be sold to somebody that wants to return it to original parts.
I don't have the owners name or address. I only know he lives in Kentucky.
Your trans. Owner of car doesn't want it. Use it or sell it.
Or..... the owner thinks you're a scammer since the guy who sold him the car said it was numbers matching.
after multiple attempts to find the new owner failed I would sell it here to another Shelby owner.....then maybe one day the original car pops back up and the 2 can make a deal to get the trans back to the original car.
Thanks for checking in
The owner of the car that should have this transmission might not realize why the contact is asking about his car. Also no one mentions what kind of condition it is in.....if it was/has had any work or repairs...ever been rebuilt. A small block toploader is fairly common within the hobby so if the owner is happy with the car he may not understand why this part is valuable. Think of all the 289 Cobras without the original T-10 that now have toploaders in place. Nice upgrade is how most view this, I would think the best advice is have it inspected and use it if it is good.

If you post the name of the owner, someone on here may know them and contact them to let them know about this Situation.
