Was having a discussion with a '67 GT500 owners car and he mentioned that his fan shroud decal as well as all came with them. Know for a fact #0962 didn't. He said if it wasn't there when being concourse judging it was a point deduction for. I told him I thought just the opposite. Who's right?

You are right. The fan shrouds did not come on any year Shelby 65-70 from the factory. It was a liability thing that was started in 1970 or 71. The fan shrouds that were produced and sold in the 70's came with the stickers already attached. Ford service personel were instructed to add a fan shroud sticker to cars coming in for service after they started the sticker program. Today the fan shroud sticker on a 67 and later Mustang or Shelby is seen as a red flag that the detail person does not know the proper assembling look and that if they made the sticker mistake expect many other historical details mistakes all over the car. Oh and yes the sticker is a point deduction in concours venues . There will typically be pity for the uninformed person who stuck it on the shroud.
Or embarrassing for the concours judge that missed catching the sticker blunder ;) .
Thanks Bob! Good feeling at 81 my memory sometimes is right!
Do you offer them a chance to remove the Sticker BEFORE the Point Reduction?
Once judging starts, you cant work on your vehicle, so no

If its been there for any time removing it will leave remains of the adhesive and often a shadow where the sticker was so that will often lead to a similar deduction. ::)
Judges or other helpful individuals often get a chance to look at cars before the judging starts and may offer help by mentioning small things like this. Things that can be corrected really quick on the spot. Bigger things would have to wait for after then show. Of course there are also others that may not share the same knowledge base/level as others so take it for what it's worth. Often these things include like a forgotten sticker the owner didn't apply yet, a missed small piece of masking tape, not filling the washer bag or reservoir, things like that.
