Title: 67 GT500 carbs
Post by: shelbydoug on September 25, 2026, 11:12:15 AM
If I am reading this date code correctly, 6B, that is February 1966? Is that typical of 67 GT500's? My car is built in June '67.

12/66 while within the norms for your car.

I get it that the Holleys were made in batches and not necessarily every week or month but on this series of carbs what are the date variations?

I cannot speak any real authority about Shelby dates.

I can say, I have had a ton of gt500 carbs come in my shop that were original to the car and were pretty far off date wise.
Same goes with mismatched between BK/BJ sometimes being a month apart.

I don't have any reason to doubt the owners.

I tend to think on small batch stuff like Shelby's you are going to see more variables vs mass produced stuff for sure.

If it helps have documented 7B's on cars built at San Jose as late as mid June. Looks like there were batches since unlike regular production cars, they were not building that many so no reason to make them every day or once a week sort of thing IMO. And consider that inventory was not first in first out either. Very different to other date code patterns such as body panels and the like especially those shared with production Mustangs at the same plant.

I'ld have to go back through my pictures and note for a full list of everyone I've got records of. Been a while since that part of the spreadsheet was updated.

Are you asking for a list of dates found for the whole production year?

A whole list.

No. I am interested in finding the best match for my car, 3074. It currently has a matched pair of 715's from a 65 427 on it which run fantastic but could be better purposed. BC-BD.

If I am going to have to pay $5,000 for the carbs, they are going to have to be not just about right, they will need to be exactly right.

Exactly what happened to the originals is not known. It has a extensive race history so who knows who changed out what. Lots of parts were missing.
