Wild times we are in!!
You beat me to this post. That may drive up prices on all 05-06 GTs. Owners are loving it, hopeful owners not so much. It was a thrilling auction, with almost 1748 comments.
Certainly got his moneys worth using the "premium" auction package,

WOW, WOW, WOW... What an auction that was! That's one for the record books!
With more than 1,700 comments and 53,000 views, this auction exceeded all expectations.
Thank you, everyone, for the bids, the comments, and for making this such an exciting auction. We are in contact with @flippipaldi now and are thrilled to see this incredible GT heading to its new home.
I tuned in when the initial 25 minutes was left I think it was $1.7 Million at that point. It was entertaining to watch, the comments were Gold! I have owned my 2005 Quicksilver No stripe GT since 2007. I have driven it to 6 SAAC conventions and it has about 25,000 miles as of this posting. I love the car. I plan on leaving it to my son who has been my co pilot since he was 9 in the car. Now I am in the passenger seat these days!! The memories we have made in this GT are irreplaceable. So the High Values Do not affect me other than Insurance premiums go up!!
A half-a-dozen or so years ago, I had the opportunity to purchase a white w/ blue striped example, with the seller thinking something around $120,000 would be appropriate, stupid me ::) said: "NA"! :'(
In the day we installed quite a few "upgrades" to these GT40's, most popular being pulleys to increase the blower boost; at the time we didn't consider that we were 'mucking' with someone's "multi-million" dollar car! :o
Scott.
I can't help but wonder why the one bidder jumped in multiple times to make $100K bids but ended up not getting the car for a $1K bid over his $2.1m bid........

Every car enthusiast needs one.
Other than a "charity" auction what was the previous record price?
I believe it was at MECUM this past spring for close to $1.3mm.
