Title: Help please - 68 GT350 unsold at Mecum 2020
Post by: rolinuss on July 27, 2026, 10:01:39 AM
I am still on the hunt for a 67 Shelby GT350 but based in Switerland there are not many if any offerings.

Have now come across a nice and very origin 68 GT350 which I am going to see tomorrow.
I only own the 65/66 and 67 Registry books but not the 68. Could somebody please look up the car and let me know its story? Apparently it has always been based in California.

Shelby number is 00586.
Thanks,
Roland

Thanks a million.

And yes, it's that Mecum car.

The story I was told by the seller that the car spent its entire life in California is true and the car seems to be very original. If only the interior would not be saddle brown but black with comfort weave.
Anyway I will now go to see and drive the car and take it from there.

My main big worry is that if I buy the car and after a few month a 67 wimbledon GT350 turns up for sale my hands are tied and I will regret havig bought that 68 forever.

1968 Shelbys are awesome, but don't settle if you really want a '67.

Thanks.

So if the 2020 Registry entry has been up to date at the date of printing, it must have been Mr Grossman who consigned the car to Mecum in 2020 where it went unsold.

Today I will see the car's Swiss title which also shows the import date and my guess is that the current owner has purchased the car in 2020 or 2021 and if so there will be no gaps in ownership.

Have been to see the car and did not like it.

The combo Lime gold with saddle brown is as I have guessed not to my liking. It looked sort of OK on photographs and could be acceptable at dawn or in the shadow but under the bright summer sunlight it was a pitiful sight, sorry.

The car also looked sort of trired and the paint would need a lot of attention. No wonder it went unsold at 50k at Mecum.

Stick with a 1967 350. Much better and more desirable car....

Be patient! Get the exact car your heart desires. It will give you joy every time you look at it. Plus, the hunt is very fun and exciting.
