I hate to see someone stressing over a simple but hard to find when you need it part. If you just have to have the annoying barrel clips I wish you well in finding some. If you want something that works at least as good and looks concours correct once installed than do what many of enthusiasts ,restorers myself included have done to not hold things up. To hold the emblem on securely you squirt some clear silicone into the barrel clip holes for a emblem that still has the tabs and hold in place with masking tape until the sealer sets up. In the case of a original plastic emblem with broken tabs from being pried out of the barrel clips you smear the silicone on the back side of the emblem and hold in place with masking tape until the sealer sets up. Be careful to wipe any visible excess sealer off before the sealer sets up. This method is typically easier to take a emblem off intact for repairs or restoration also. I hope this helps.

Did the original cars use something different in some way? Those look very generic...

That type of clip is what was used originally when the cars were built. The minor nuance "some way" difference is irrelevant once it is installed.

Reason why I posted is that the replacements are more aggressive than original. Not that I can't find a replacement that would work but trying to avoid problems downstream and Bob alludes to with the pins. I have three types of replacements in my hand and all are metal which would cause potential paint issues and if I have to remove, almost guarantees the break of a pin. I likes Bob's idea of clear sealant if I can't find originals or the AMK version which was exact replica. Never thought I would have to remove which caused the need for my ask. The original are not aggressive and work very well.

If all else fails;
1955-1957 t bird used them for numerous push on emblems.
And where accessible, >>> put non hardening sealant to seal >> have pics of that.

I may have a nos t bird emblem with the barrel clips, will have to look.
