I am working on detailing the seat tracks in my 69. What can I use on the mounting plates for color/paint?
Any help would be appreciated.

They need to look like zinc phosphate which in this case is a medium gray. I am not aware of a paint that match's the look exactly. I have stopped wasting time trying to find one. You should know that if you go with a paint you will have to accept a compromise. I typically take the plates off and then chemically refinish them. If you do this you can use a matt clear and then also use a rust inhibitor like Boe Shield over the clear for maximum protection. If you use a light matt clear it will not compromise the look. Maybe others have a paint procedure that will pass scrutiny
Are yours originally phosphate or painted black or combo of both? They came all 3 ways.
Black sliding tracks but the mounting plates are phosphate.
