Title: 69/70 front calipers
Post by: jimhyc on June 30, 2026, 07:25:02 PM
Are there any date codes or anything specific on the front calipers I should look for? It's time to rebuild or replace them and not sure if mine are original or if it's even worth the effort of rebuilding them.

They have date codes . Look at the machined portions for the date code numbers. I will try and take some pictures later.

Here is a picture of the date code on a Kelsey Hayes caliper for a Carryover car. I don't know about 1969 calipers. If this picture does not apply to the original poster's question, let me know and I will remove to avoid confusion.
As you can see, the date is stamped into the caliper and is difficult to see. The date format is the day of the year 168 = June 16 and the year 5 = 1965.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Found the date code under the crud. They are correct for the car.
