David Randal, owner of Randal Restorations, passed away Wednesday after a long illness. David was an early restorer of our cars, including the first restoration on the Super Snake 1967 GT 500, CSX 3020 (back-up car to LeMans), and several 1965 GT 350s, including 5S046 and 5S238. David perfected the wood steering wheel restoration process, and could replace all the wood on 1965 and 1967 Shelbys. He is credited with numerous magazine articles in Muscle Car Review and Mustang Monthly. As restorations became more popular, and more knowledge made available, David was humbled by the people in the hobby that helped him restore cars. His kids now run Randal Automotive in Kerrville. He was a good friend and restored the steering wheel in my 1965. A memorial service is Tuesday in Kerrville, Texas. God speed David!
Rest in Peace to him.

Impressive array of restorations. I may get their shop to make me a real wood wheel out of a spare 66 wheel I bought with that very intention.
I was not expecting to read this because David was still young. A great guy that will be missed. Rest in Peace.
With a very sad heart we say good by to David. Always someone I enjoyed talking and sharing details with over the decades. He will be missed and remembered. RIP
Over the years, David and I would visit at events, particularly during MidAmerica at Tulsa. It was clear he had a passion for these cars and his work. Sad news for sure! My condolences to his family and friends.
Sad news.He was a very cool guy.Didnt know me from Adam, but he very patiently walked me through step by step the process for refinishing the wheel on my 67 gt500 back in the day when I cold called him.It came out great btw...R.I.P.
