I know this is probably a very elementary level question, but my car has a hurst shifter. I have the original Ford shifter and would like to possibly put it back in the car for originality. Are the shift rods for the Ford and Hurst shifters the same or not?
They are different
I figured that but just wanted to check with the experts. You guys are the best.
The shift rods and tabs that mount the rods to the transmission are also different between the Top Loader and the T-10. I removed a Hurst and replaced with an OEM shifter on a Carryover with a T-10 a few years ago. As I recall, a little time searching on the web will provide images of the differences. I know this is considered heresy, but the car shifts better with the original shifter and rods in my opinion than with the Hurst. And the reverse lock-out is a plus. But I do miss the T handle.
The Hurst shifter is definitely cool and the T-handle just fits your hand so well, but I love originality so I am definitely considering changing it back to stock. Thanks again for all of your input.
Snakebite, Which transmission do you have?
I have a decent amount of factory rods and levers
Cast iron T10.
I >>> think <<< I may have one that I took off of a B/W box.
Been 10 years since I saw it but I remember it was a good unit.
shift arms on trans, shift rods X 3, shifter box and shifter. Arm/Lever probably needs re-chrome as-they all need
Nothing is pitted or bent.
Case box has no rust, rods still have that blackish dull tint from hardening
Rods, as well as the trans shift arms are ford part numbered too.
Same set up that fits a 65 Shelby aluminum box.
Will have to check to see if its still there,
$650. plus shipping and ins if I do.

I think I took a picture of it all bolted on a BW box.
I had many rods, so was my only avenue to make sure I had the right pieces.
I actually have the Ford/Shelby shifter and box in very good condition. Just need the rods. Thanks.
