Title: Paint OK Stamp
Post by: MustangDave302 on April 06, 2026, 05:05:08 PM
Does anyone know where I can get a "Paint OK" inspection Stamp?  Or template? Or size and font? I am looking to recreate the original inspection stamps on a Feb 7, 68 vert.

You do realize that you'll need three different versions to do a 68 NJ built Mustang/Shelby. Not all of the had PAINT O.K.

Suggest that you purchase them already made since many shops will take and use their own fonts and such in hopes that it will "help" and either make it easier or cheaper. For most close is good enough. Believe me gone through this will multiple shops who in the end didn't paid for their efforts.

Of course , as we always remind owners and shops, please don't focus on this sort and level  of details unless everything else is correct and like original. Paint marks and stamps will not make your car more correct, make up for poor choices in other areas or be awarded more points at a show. Most classes do not require these marks but if they are incorrect (placement, design, colors and so on) that can be a source of loss of points.

Not suggesting this is the case in your car but for everyone, it does look silly when guys place paint marks and stamps on poor reproductions or incorrectly finished parts  for examples. Doesn't visually provide a lot of confidence in the overall level of restoration.  Just saying

Last count I had 14 different paint inspector stamps for 68 NJ. To echo Jeffs point, placement and application knowledge is everything

Thank you both for you help.  I agree with both of you.  I do not want to have incorrect stamping or markings on the car. I'm just trying to find information and knowledge that I do not have. That is why I am reaching out. Do you know where I can find correct stamps and placement information?  Are the correct repo stamps available?  These cars are treasure hunts with layers of mysteries and I love it.
