Drivers door has a 1967 vent window installed.
Crispy critter, been in the sun a while. Number 688?
Mel Burns, Long Beach, Calif dealer plate on the rear. Same dealer as my GT/CS.

Real deal SoCal GT500 for 40 grand what's not to like. Yeah missing some pieces but not needing to weld in a bunch of ChiCom repro sheet metal will make up for that.

Interesting that the car would have those license plates. Something in its history likely explains that. As for a "Calif" car sure has a lot of rust and in some "normal" (for other areas of the country) and some odd spots (possibly coastal for a while).  Possibly located for a time in multiple areas.  Maybe it was taken to another state for a while then returned.

Typical look of the interior and upper exterior paint from being stored outside in the south west though.

Interesting to see

On the Drivers Side Door Jam, that Hole, is that for the Tilt Away?

This would make a good candidate for a major Restomod.  Late Model Drivetrain, Suspension, Brakes, Seats, Wheels, Paint, ETC.

The 67 door probably explains those screws holding on the warranty plate

DC is probably bidding on it so he can run it on BaT like his last one

[/quote.    The exposed hole is a missing courtesy lamp switch. The switch below is for tilt away.

That car showed up on FB marketplace last Sunday for sale in the San Diego area listed at 20K.

I'm confused.  The auction says it ends February 24.  Shouldn't the auction be over?  Last I checked, it's now March.

18% plus a mandatory 9.75% sales tax to CA and removal in 4 days per the fine print. I had no idea state taxes in CA were that high- a bit crazy getting a fee up near 30% and then my state would still require I pay another 6+% to them and shipping. I wouldn't mind getting a 68 project but I'm realizing this isn't the one for me. This may be good for someone in CA with a CA dealer license to get it out the door cheaper.

Total rates can increase up to 10.25% or higher in some cities and counties due to local voter-approved district taxes.
It doesn't appear that the seller has a car dealer license. If they did and the car was shipped out of state without its tires touching a public road they sales tax would not have to be paid. If I bought a car in your state and paid the 6% tax CA would still collect another 4% when it was registered here. Anyone with a sellers permit in CA should be able to delay the collection of the tax. BTW CA even wants you to get a permit and collect tax at swap meets, unless making only occasional sales (twice or less per year).

I'd like a 68 project. I tried and bailed at 52- the fees, CA taxes and logistics of pick-up deterred me.  :(

Your going to be pressed to fond a project under 70k, especially a big block

Agree. Not that it's going to make a substantial difference in my search but I'm more of an anomaly. I prefer a GT350 and am ok with a non-original motor and something I do over time to enjoy the journey. I'd like to be a concours or survivor guy and appreciate that just not in my reality.

It was sold at 1/3 the price because it was not listed as a "Holy Grail" car.

Because red is less popular than ugliest color ever produced by Ford - Lime Green.
Just kidding the ugliest color was the gold they 2005 aniv Tbird. It was so bad they sprayed less than 100 of them before saner heads prevailed.
