Title: Scott Drake...... grr
Post by: lwg8tr0514 on February 02, 2026, 03:39:26 PM
My 68 GT 500, passenger side door courtesy light has never worked. Looking under dash the bullet connector and pigtail not hooked up to the dash harness. The door wiring appears to be too short.  I pulled off door panel and fished out harness, yea was wrong harness. I think restoration guy put in a Scott Drake, speaker one in door.  Car does not have stereo speakers in door.  He had just plugged in dash courtesy light into bullet directly in dash harness.  So that mystery solved. I did get a new harness from Scott Drake... without speaker... but still too short to reach.  I could make my own pigtail extender BUT... I cannot find the correct Ford bullets. I even have some old harnesses.  Nothing fits. I ordered a used OEM used door harness on eBay and see if the bullet connector black\blue wires are longer. Has anyone run into this?

This OEM one, looks like the length of wire after the fender side plug... wires are a little longer...(https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/pSMAAeSwVbFpQyeJ/s-l1600.webp)

Yes. Typically it isn't worth the effort for me to get another harness and more simple to splice in some wire farther back inside the harness to allow more length where needed yet not be seen. Not everyone is comfortable with this kind of fix but for me it is less stressful.

Yea that OEM one I ordered. I will just extend the bullet on the door side wire 6" if it does not fit.
