Is there a simple answer here? any recommendation on plug in LEDs for tail lights, reverse lights, front parking/turn signal lights....
I know they are 1156 and 1157 bulbs, I am looking for a brand that might be better than others?

I've yet to change anything but headlights, in which case, I've had three cars now that I've installed the Holley Retrobright headlights. I have been seriously considering them in my 70 Shelby, but have not come to grips with that one just yet. I have done research on the 1156 & 1157 bulbs and have found that Sylvania and I believe Phillips have them out on the market. Personally, I prefer to use those offered by a manufacturer with a long history of "like and kind" offerings, as their history in the automotive field are second to none. The re4ason I've yet to try them is I'm uncertain if I would need some type of diode or different flasher units to get them to work the way they are supposed to. I'll be installing my NOS headlight switch later this week, may pull a set of the Retrobrights out of one of my existing cars to give them a test install. Now that I'm typing this out, I may use one of my Cobra replicas as a LED "guinea pig" for the brake, running, and turn signals. If so, I'll let you know how it goes.

Not happy on our 1969 Shelby did not work properly
Took it to a buddy of ours he said it wont work primarily due to the low current draw of LEDs, which is incompatible with the original thermal flashers and sequential turn signal system.
The original system requires the higher resistance of incandescent bulbs to function correctly.
He said order the retrofit kit that replace all the junk in trunk in our Shelbys.
To the point
I replaced all of my interior and exterior (except for headlights) filament bulbs with LEDs from HiPo parts. They have a complete list of their LED bulbs for 69-70 Mustangs/Shelby's at https://www.hipoparts.com/1969-70-ford-mustang/. Their flasher, however, didn't work for me. I ended up using the Bespokepower BSP-FLSH 1.

Tony is also correct about current draw. You can add a resistor to each side which will mimic the draw of a filament bulb. I did this to my car after going to LED's, the flasher then worked fine.

I used the 6 pack of tail lights from WCCC in my 67. Worked well with no modifications.

What is the resistor value used to get the flasher to work properly?
