Title: 1967 GT350 01493 Sold in Germany for 138.000 Euro at RM/Sothebys
Post by: Kent on October 19, 2025, 11:00:46 AM
i was there my highest bid was 110.000 Euro and this was the absolute limit for me. Online Bidder paid 120.000 Euro. I inspected it for 3 hours and I'm very fine that I didn't won as the 110.000 bid from me was also maybe a bit over what I thought to be ok but it was there and ready to go so I set my limit higher than I normally would. I wish the new owner a good time with it.

Thats the car when it sold for 110.000$ in 2011 at Bonhams

I'm surprised that car has outboards.

I own two cars close to #1493 and they're with inbound lights

+1 .There are other early ones that had outboard but certainly out of the ordinary.

That late completion date at Shelby makes a difference that may explain the outboards. ;)

Interesting that it has a metal frame big-block with fiberglass hood

I don't think a steel inner structure hood is appropriate given the time it was at Shelby being converted . Besides that it is a replacement anyway given it has the notches into the inner structure for a GT500 oval air cleaner.

Yes but that was not the only problem. And I would have the correct hood for it and a lot of other parts. But even that wouldn't be enough to bring it back to more correct.

Yes, there are a number of "things" that from a Judging viewpoint are not correct and the underside and other areas haven't been viewed! There could be a rather long list compiled.

Hi to all,
Wonder if it is the correct paint color-appears to have large grain metallic and I think it should  be a hub cap car. Very creative way to secure the spare wheel in the trunk.
Very doubtful that any G.T. 350'S Would have this type of headlamps in this date range.

I am guessing that with that particular full size wheel and tire combo that it had to sit too far off to the side of the J hook loop in the floor and so the the J hook was at a too far angle to go up through the center cap hole like normal. The alternate J hook through the spoke opening was indeed very interesting. I am sure a better alternative could have been found . It looks like there were a lot of other interesting decisions made during restoration also.
