Title: BaT auction for KR
Post by: Coralsnake on October 14, 2025, 01:27:39 PM
Apparently a someone was offended by my BaT comments so here it is:

"I used to believe the market was intelligent enough to sort out good cars from bad cars.

I have changed my mind"

It may be for sale again in the near future? I'm not used to looking at canceled comments on BAT from Coralsnake, who IMO, is one of the best 1968 experts around. Interesting.

If I was advising someone I would  suggest not buying a car with three missing ID tags and a full restoration.

I understand everyone has a different level of knowledge and comfortability with these cars.

Just my opinion 🙃

Thanks i missed the action this morning & was wondering what you said ,i agree about the tag issue but in the end it just makes our cars with all the tags worth more right .

Think that is the point. Not to the uneducated,  the "I don't care" or "it's still a Shelby" crowds.

Had a friend ask my opinion that was interested, provided the exact same feedback.  He was not a bidder.

Being gone the last  week I missed this auction. When I did my first 68 I had the fender tag reproduced by Back east and a new buck tag(original bent in half and half missing) but those tags WENT WITH THE CAR. So why weren't the original tags still with the car? Thanks Pete. Catching up on the comments before reading the ones here I wonder how you got flagged. Is it your first? The "no expense spared" comment told me the viewers, again,  don't know what they are looking at. I'll cite just one of the few pics I saw of the LCA not being a restored original but aftermarket NAPA piece-that, to me, is just one common piece on a no expense spared on a resto.

Hmm a "10 09" fender on this car? How come so many never post pics of the car bare metal after blasting. I got mine and if I sell my 68 it will be there for all to see. A car in primer on a rotisserie means nothing to me other then what work was done you cant see .

I said what I said. I wear it as a badge of honor.

People can do what they like with their money...

... and I can call them out, if I want.

Just because you have money doesnt exclude you from being ignorant.

That repo fender tag isn't even a good reproduction. To me one of the most simple things to ask for is the date codes in the trunk on the trunk hinge support. Easily seen easily read. That is a start to being an original body.

Please don't stop commenting on these BaT auctions, Pete ... I'm still in the market, and appreciate your insightful comments.
