Title: Wood shifter handle with snake inlay
Post by: stangman39 on October 11, 2025, 11:02:58 AM
Hope everyone is having a good weekend so far.
Helping a buddy sell his 67 Fastback and the car has this Shelby shifter handle on it. From what I've researched since the securing screw is in the front it is original. Is that correct?
The car should have the 67 deluxe handle so this wood one obviously isn't correct for the car.
If this is original what is it worth?
Trying to decide if should remove it to sell separately?

Thanks!

Given the gaps around the inlay I would think it is a reproduction. Let's see what others think..

+1 . Reproduction or later service part . It is different then what came on the assemblyline.

Sell separately IMO.

Thanks for the replies.
It was confusing for me to decide. Like you said the gaps around the inlay made me think repro but then I read most of the repros had the screw on the backside. Maybe the screw info is incorrect?

I gather a repro is worth a few hundred? If so I'll let next owner decide if they want to keep it on or not.

The screw info is incorrect in that there was more then one way the repro and service handles were placed.

Here's mine that I have had since the mid-seventies. Again, not sure if it is original or aftermarket.

Most likely a service replacement IMO. The routed outline is better then a lot of them.Just my thoughts.

It doesn't matter if a early or late production car as the typical handle for ether will have the close routed outline for the snake like in the picture.
