It really was a great convention! Still recovering!

Great photo, who took it?

Jack, my son-in-law. My daughter sent me a treasure trove of pics they took over the weekend.
AWSOME PIC!...
We had an outstanding time. Our car 6S1854 is the sixth in the row of Hertz cars, next to the white Hertz car. We were pleasantly surprised by receiving the TEAM SHELBY Pick Award. This was the first time we entered a car at a Shelby Convention.
Yeah awesome convention. Great time and still taking it all in!
As conventions go, it was another great convention in California, great to see so many classic Shelby's. Open track was great, the track always a challenge up top. The car shows always spectacular. NorCal was a great partner this event. Zillions of smiles on parade laps. More VIP's than usual.
The staff who worked hard and made every facet shine was OUTSTANDING!!!
But, very little looking back at the last 50 conventions. I was hoping for more.

I used to own its sister car 6S1855.
Congrats on the WIN

That would have been great guess all it would have taken was for someone to stand up, volunteer to organize, store the items and memorabilia before the show, then help with returning the items since,Keeping track of what belongs to whom and, I'm guessing, most would not be bringing all on the plan with them.
Of course another idea would be for someone to offer to collect and put together a video presentation for one of the banquets or evening shows. Of course, based on past videos, likely be a lot of "inside baseball" that many would not recognize or notice. Nothing that could not be overcome if done before too many pass before the project was finished. If this was done at this years event sorry I missed it but surely someone will mention that fact if there was.
Hopefully before the next ten years have passed, someone will see your post and get an early start for that celebration.
Great pic and great convention! Mine is always easy to pick out. I believe it was the only white, no stripe '66 there.🙂

It's ALL in the First 50 years of SAAC book. You did pick one up at the Cobra Experience event - didn't you? Kopec and Brock were signing them. Mike Shoen was there and he was signing his book that was available in the store.
I was hoping for more from the T shirt. I bought one but it's very boring.
Did anyone else purchase the signed and numbered SAAC 50 posters that were being sold in the Media Room. Unfortunately I noticed the wrong year associated with SAAC50 (2024 vs 2025 ... see attached picture) after I arrived home and unrolled them. I bought two of them and am curious if they are being reprinted?
Typos add to value!
Hey Guess this was not checked close enough as it also lists 1991 2 times
1990 was Dearborn in case you wondered. Good memories and Great people Plus Race action.
Best way to have fun with 4 wheels!!

It was a great show, and very glad I went. Any idea what the attendance was for SAAC 50?

I do have my copy of Rick's book. And agreed on the shirt. (I did start a thread about an anniversary shirt, but no one has any interest.)
I was hoping for a retrospective at dinner, maybe a display of old convention stuff, things like that. So many people have been a part, should have been acknowledged.

Old convention stuff is only t shits, dash plaques, trophies and photos people took. SAAC 1 didn't have any of those things. Kopec made SAAC 1 dash plaques a couple years after the event just so there would be a complete collection. I think the first T shirt was SAAC 5 - which reminds me there was also a belt buckle for that one. I'll see if I can find mine - I don't know if it was an "official" SAAC product or something a member made up to sell. The club wanted nothing to do with the book. Drew Sherb stepped up and published it on his own as written. I think a typical SAAC round table panel would have concentrated on why Kopec left the club not all the accomplishments SAAC made under his 50 year stewardship.
Since the opportunity was missed at the Celebration someone might just want to start a thread where people could post pictures these items for all to see and remember in one thread focused on those official items.
Just a thought

Agreed, but in it's own section, not in any convention forum. I am sure there are plenty of old pictures and stories out there. I have many.
Yes 98SVT, a major distraction which I felt caused SAAC to loose sight of the celebration.
Let's hear suggestions fo the sub-forum name and which section... we'll create it.
HQ would like some of those memories to rebuild the club archives
It might have to be something in the Members Only Lounge.

Great idea. A sub forum of pics and stories would be great
There is an EVENTS section with the conventions There are pages for the last 10 years and a "looking back" page for older ones.
Maybe they could do 5 sections 1 for each decade limited to 10 pages in each section (1 per convention) for people to add stuff to.
There should also be a page for the SAAC Does Vegas events.
there was a thread about all conventions that was lost i think 2 f ing times s that included all of the above mentioned when we didnt back up the files and everthing was lost ::)
Ron,
In the "SAAC Forum" Forum part, but it's own section, not under looking back.
Call it: "50 Years of SAAC", and it's for all members to post memories and pictures. Covers anything SAAC.
On the SAAC-50 poster I bought with plastic cover over it, the Sonoma is 2025 with two 1991. FYI
