This snubber bracket looks similar to 1965 mustang 9", but pretty sure its not. It has fine thread stud, and ~ 2-1/2" wide, any ideas what is exact application?
Others will know/contribute more, but this might help too...
Here too is an article by Marcus Anghel that is VERY helpful

So it looks similar to 1966, difference is 1966 mustang flared out at bottom ends vs straight/flat ends on mystery bracket. Pretty sure not for fairlane galaxie either, maybe for mid 60's truck

compare again. The picture JD posted of the 66 style shows the same contour on the bottom compared to your posted picture. Your bracket appears to be the 66 style 9 inch snubber bracket.
The 1966 example in JD photos is flared out on both bottom "edges", the mystery bracket is straight on both bottom edges. Added top view photo
I just looked at "6" 66 style ones I have on the shelf and the bottom of them varied from the style in the pictures JD posted (were pictures I took that JD got with my blessing years ago) with the flare you mentioned to ones that were almost no flare similar but slightly more pronounced then yours. The 65 bracket I have has no flare on one side and virtually no flare more so then the JD posted picture. With that inspection of various samples across 65 and 66 I think that it is reasonable to conclude that there was a range that they could be in that regard. At the very least you can see a progression between earlier 65 versions going forward. No reason to conclude other than MFG variances during the production of the same bracket IMO. I also believe that the metal on your sample has enough corrosion in that area to possibly magnify the effect. I wouldn't give it a second thought other then corrosion evidence if I was judging it on the show field. A good hard to find part in my estimation.
