Title: '66 Triple Black Convert.
Post by: Survivor on August 20, 2025, 12:01:22 PM
The Owl's Head Transportation Museum in Maine is having their annual auto auction this weekend.  There's a '66 vert coming up on Sat. that's apparently being highly touted.  Does anyone know the car/details.

I don't own the cars but I've looked at their actions online before.

Consignor is MS Classic Cars of Seekonk, MA. Owner is Marc Schiliro. They deal in high quality, very highly detailed vehicles, and are also a regular consignor at Barrett-Jackson.

Looks like an older MCA concours restoration... when owners loaded them up with changes/accessories.

My bad on the t-black-too many other things on my mind.  So it seems as if the car never made it to Maine?  It's now being advertised on the MS website as being listed on BAT.  Strange.

One of my auction tracking sites is showing it being sold at the Owl's Head Transportation Museum auction on 8/23 for $50,000 hammer price plus 15% buyer premium.

It is, however, still on the MS Classic Cars web site as of today, unpriced. It does not appear on BAT as this is written. Perhaps the MSCC web site has not yet been updated.

I may be wrong, but I believe the car you believe sold at Owl's Head was actually a '65 GT.  I'll verify from the result's sheet when I have a minute.

Without droning on about this thing...  The '66 I referenced in my original post is a black paint/black int. car with a white top.  I mistakenly referenced it as a triple black car.  That car was scheduled to be auctioned at the Owl's Head Transportation Museum in Maine on the 23rd/24th of August.  It is not and was not advertised as a GT either by OHTM or the seller-I specifically asked the seller that very question and he responded in the negative.  In my review of other Mustangs being auctioned that weekend, I did not see a '65 GT in the listing.  I did, however, see a car fitting that description on the auction results page.  Given this info., I have to believe that they are two different cars.  I did not get an explanation as to why the '66 (non-GT car) never made it to Maine and it doesn't really matter at this point as it's on BAT.  Quick edit-all of the answers are noted on the BAT listing.
