WHO WOULD HAVE THUNK ?
the 1987 Dodge Shelby Charger GLH-S was faster than a 1965 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 in some performance aspects.
The GLH-S could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in around 6.5 seconds, while the GT350 took roughly 6.6 seconds.
The GLH-S also had a slightly higher top speed, reaching 135 mph compared to the GT350's 130+ mph.

Roy,
I assume you were @ Willow when the GLHS 'ringers' were there, right?

I'm sure this is gonna be considered slightly off-topic to some people but I can't imagine anybody here, particularly for the money wanting this car in 1987 instead of a 1987 LX 5.0
And the LX would've saved you some pocket change
Yeah, but the LX is NOT a Shelby.......
Two cars I would have bought in 1987 (IF I had the money back then):
A-1987 Buick Grand National.
B-1987 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe.
Sold @$23K. I would say lots of fun per dollar here.
I would like to have the Dodge Shelby Daytona with the T-Tops.
Memorializing this great example of a Shelby Charger $23,000
I've owned one for close to 30 years. Very fun car. I tell people we have 20 year anniversary models, a '67, '87 and '07!

Gee wiz I dont know look at the numbers.
A 1987 Mustang LX 5.0, when equipped with a manual transmission

Top Speed: Around 130 mph
........
1987 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 with a 5-speed manual transmission typically achieved a

0-60 mph: 6.95 seconds
