Title: 1969 GT350 Hertz stripe color and hood blackout
Post by: Shelbyguy69 on June 24, 2025, 09:43:27 AM
Hey I am trying to figure out what the correct combination of stripes is for my car.
I assumed that the Hertz had gold stripes but I have been reading that they are actually black stripes, but then we can never assume when it comes to Ford in the old days. Also the black out hood details.
Is anyone willing to share some photos of an original car and can anyone clarify this for me? My car had a colour change way back in its life so i dont have any trace of the original details.
Thanks for sharing your pictures and taking the time.
cheers

If the car was a "Hertz" had nothing to do with the stripe colors

Each color was assigned a specific stripe color

Thank you for that.... albeit for different reasons, "Competition Red" code 60449 is the same as Calypso Coral.

Hey awesome information guys.
So what about the blackout hood?  My report says it had that but it also says that a blackout hood is 1970? Any pics out there of this detail?  i have only been able to find one so far.

thanks again

There is no hood "blackout"

You are reading the Marti report. That is a remnant of the Ford production. The car was built by Ford as a Mach 1 before it was converted to a Shelby.

The Shelby did not use the Mach 1 hood, so its a non issue
