Title: Stripes and hood question 68 KR
Post by: Bullzai on June 24, 2025, 09:22:09 AM
While my KR is being restored, I am adding the stripes, my question is for the people that have added the stripes.
Did you put the blackouts (at the back of the hood) over the stripes, or did you leave the blackouts off?
Car is Acapulco Blue.  Any pics would be greatly appreciated.

Apologies - I have no idea what they called the little black out areas at the back of the hood.

I can't help you with the " black out " on, off or under as no 68 Shelby left the factory with them. The black decals on the back edge of the hoods on 68 Shelby's is to reduce any sun glare from that area so yes even black cars get them. One other note is they change dimensions during the production year, an early version and then second version a little later ( the back edge extends more) .

I think KR500 means no '68 Shelby had the over the top of the car twin stripes from Shelby, like some of the '65 & '66 cars.

Those are the stripes you're referring too?

I didn't. I also didn't paint my tail panel silver because it didn't look good with black/red stripes.
