...put a driver's side door mirror on these cars. But if you did, what is the best one to install?

The one that finds it way on the 65 GT350 more than any other it seems is typically the bullet mirror like used on the 66 GT350.
Thanks!
Is the car going to be judged in SAAC concours??

If so you might want to hold-off until after judging.
on our "cult car" 1966 GTH came with the very pretty chrome bullet mirror and that's all it is to me...looks good, that's all
Visibility is zero through it, glad that I learned to drive with out any mirrors assistance.
Go Panthers!
By 1965 most states required a driver side mirror. Street cars probably ended up with the normal Mustang GT mirror and the R Model got the Raydot mirrors. https://store.cobraautomotive.com/mirror-raydot-race-type-3-1-2-flat-lens/

Visibility isn't too bad when you point the mirror more outward to catch more of the blind spot. With all due respect, you have to angle your mirror more outward (the opposite of how you have it set in the photo) so if a car begins to pass you on the left (if you allow such things to occur while driving), said car should first appear in the rearview mirror on approach and as the car gets closer, it shifts and disappears from the rearview mirror and begins to appear in the door mirror. Of course, shoulder checks as always before changing lanes under any circumstance. Drive as if you are on a motorcycle.
is one I have for sell if you're interested? Probably had it for close to 50 years. Absolutely mint condition.

Couple more picks of the box. I only have one screw that goes with it though.

You forget the first rule of "RASING"
"what's behind me us not important"
Second rule
"mirrors who needs da mirrors, they only add weight and slow down da machine"

That mirror stunt put a dent dead center in the nose of Duane Bowers Cobra. It faired better than Les Linley's car which suffered frame damage when they slid it into the flood control channel.
The repro Mustang mirror comes with the right shape gasket where it mounts in the door curve. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/sdk-c5rz17696as?seid=srese1&ppckw=pmax-restoration&gclid=CjwKCAjwx8nCBhAwEiwA_z__0wuzmGRvxgQWAYAT-8AOBxrMoSHZm9YjsZ_wuWhfNeMSVxyGYJH8GxoCCogQAvD_BwE

That's not cool. These poor movie cars. As an aside, I got the long base bullet mirror and it still is not quite long enough to cover both holes on the stock mirror location. Still faced with a drilling situation.
Third rule of mirrors: Objects in mirror are losing.

You have a valid point. Great movie incidentally. Better than Cannonball Run I say.

The Talbot mirror that TA Coupe posted is the second most popular mirror that ended up on 65 GT350 . Both the Bullet style and Talbot style were both available from Ford back in the day . No doubt good looks and ease of accessibility back in the day helped their popularity .
I hung a concave mirror, used for road racing, over my inside mirror. Great visibility, as I don't have any side mirrors.

AND Roy's mirror is not a recent part made today. It is a real live part. True Day Two oriented, much better.

I was also thinking about a clip on or suction cup type mirror that would go on the side of the wing window or frame, that is not permanently mounted and can be removed for judging......

One of the Ferraris got the worst of it. When they pulled into the rolling trailer the stuntman was going way too fast and ran the car through the front of the trailer into the back of the truck cab. He got fired on the spot.
